SouthernWorldwide.com – The intricate web of The Bloodline’s narrative extended its reach into the latest episode of “Friday Night SmackDown” in Providence, Rhode Island. The drama unfolded as Jacob Fatu made an appearance in the locker room, encountering Jey Uso as he prepared for his King of the Ring Tournament match against his brother, Jimmy Uso.
Several storylines seemed to be in motion simultaneously. Fatu stated his presence on SmackDown was to speak with Solo Sikoa, who had recently broken away from Roman Reigns to form his own faction, MFT. Concurrently, Jey Uso received words of encouragement from Cody Rhodes.
Before his match, Uso told Rhodes, “When I do it, I’m coming after that WWE championship at SummerSlam. Just business, Uce. Just business.”
Rhodes responded by expressing his hope that Uso would indeed pursue the Undisputed WWE Championship. He added that he hoped this pursuit would be Uso’s own decision, rather than a directive from Roman Reigns.
The atmosphere was thick with political maneuvering and internal conflicts.
Fatu eventually found Sikoa in the locker room. He relayed a message from Reigns, indicating that the “Original Tribal Chief” wished for Sikoa to “come home.” Sikoa, a former key member of The Bloodline, reacted with a laugh.
“Home? He wants me to come home? That’s what your ‘Tribal Chief’ said? That ain’t home, Jacob,” Sikoa retorted. “That’s a doghouse, and you’re his lap dog. You know what? I don’t understand this. What the hell happened to you? You used to be a killer. A man that everyone was afraid of. The ‘Samoan Werewolf.’ A man who was this close to beating Roman. And now? You’re just his background. And you know I’m right because I am still standing here and you’ve done nothing but come here and deliver a message from who? Your ‘Tribal Chief?’
“Listen to me, Roman has done nothing but embarrass you, humiliated you and make you kneel down like a dog in front of the whole world and in front of our family, Jacob. And that right there is not how you treat somebody that you love. But he wants me to come back? I’m not going back there. So, tell Roman, he can go to hell.”
Fatu acknowledged Sikoa’s perspective but stated he had already made his decision. He warned Sikoa that if Reigns wanted him, he would be coming for him.
Sikoa, in turn, declared that if Reigns desired his return, “then he can come and get me.”
The influence of The Bloodline did not stop there. While Jey Uso was preparing for his match, Sikoa was observed speaking with Royce Keys. Uso, Keys, LA Knight, and Finn Balor were all participants in the King of the Ring Tournament. Sikoa advised Keys not to become a “casualty” in Reigns’ ongoing conflict.
Knight emerged victorious, seemingly validating his previous assertions about The Bloodline’s interference in the King of the Ring tournament. Unbeknownst to him, the interference would escalate significantly. As Knight and Keys moved outside the ring, Jimmy Uso and Sikoa made their presence known.
Balor had gained the upper hand towards the conclusion of the match, executing his finisher on Jimmy Uso. Keys became distracted by Sikoa, allowing Knight to regain control. It appeared Knight was on the verge of securing the win.
Keys was hit with a big boot, prompting referee Charles Robinson to check on him. Seizing the opportunity, Sikoa delivered a Samoan Spike to Knight when his back was turned. Keys then executed a spinebuster on Knight just as Jey Uso ascended the top rope for his frog splash. Uso successfully pinned Knight, clinching an unexpected victory.
Although Sikoa’s actions seemed intended to aid Keys, they inadvertently contributed to The Bloodline’s triumph. Uso is now slated to face Je’Von Evans in the semifinals. The other semifinal match will feature Oba Femi against Dominik Mysterio.
Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes’ Confrontation
Sami Zayn addressed the Providence crowd, asserting his position as the “last real good guy” in professional wrestling. He expressed surprise at the reception from the city and noted the strong support from his “ride or die” fans during his recent tour in Europe.
Zayn then called out Cody Rhodes, who answered the challenge. Zayn sought to resolve lingering issues with Rhodes, stemming from a series of recent unfortunate incidents. He recounted these events, including Rhodes’ suicide dive the previous week, which was intended for Gunther. Amidst chants of “Sami sucks” from the audience, Zayn implored Rhodes for the “truth.”
Rhodes recalled the moment at WrestleMania 40 when Zayn was celebrating his championship victory. Zayn questioned Rhodes about the wrestlers he had named – CM Punk, Kevin Owens, John Cena, Randy Orton – asking how many of them remained his friends and if Rhodes was the issue. Rhodes stated he didn’t need to be as “honest” with them as he did with Zayn. Zayn then pleaded for Rhodes’ honesty.
“You want me to be honest with you? You want me to be honest? I’m standing out here for this. I’m taking all this fire, listening to this BS,” Rhodes declared. “Here’s me being honest with you: They (the fans) are booing you. They are chanting, ‘Sami sucks!’ And the reason is, because lately, you do suck. You’re whining. You’re crying.
“You’re not the Sami Zayn they fell in love with. You’re not the Sami Zayn they took a ride with. You’re not my Sami Zayn. You’re something else. If anything, you are desperate. Let’s not pretend that it’s about anything, anything between you and I other than the WWE Championship. And I owe you an apology, I am sorry. I’m sorry that I have this and that means you never will.”
Following Rhodes’ harsh words, Zayn slapped him. Zayn began to apologize, but as anger brewed within Rhodes, he retaliated.
Rhodes then slapped Zayn across the face.
“Are we good?” Rhodes shouted at Zayn, who then exited the ring and retrieved a chair. Zayn ultimately dropped the chair and walked away.
Gunther Sets His Stipulation for Undisputed WWE Championship Rematch
Gunther secured the condition he desired for a rematch against Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. He informed SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis that he would select the referee for the match, citing an error that cost him the title at Clash in Italy.
Gunther later explained to Aldis that he needed a referee with a thorough understanding of pro wrestling rules, but also one who could account for the “human factor.”
He designated Zayn as the special guest referee, a decision that clearly displeased Aldis.
Therefore, next week’s title defense will see Rhodes face Gunther with Zayn officiating.
Rhea Ripley Injury Update
Rhea Ripley appeared on last week’s “SmackDown” wearing a knee brace, indicating she was not yet cleared to compete. In her absence, Jade Cargill and Michin defeated Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton.
SmackDown commentator Wade Barrett provided an update on Ripley’s recovery.
“The knee injury happened in Italy last week,” Barrett stated. “Now, we are evaluating the knee injury as we speak and based on how that knee responds to the treatment, it should give us a better idea on the ETA for the return of Rhea ‘Bloody’ Ripley. Obviously, we all have our fingers crossed for a swift return for the champ.”
Cargill commented that she hoped Ripley was resting, as she intended to get her “lick back.”
Queen of the Ring Tournament Moves Along
The latest semifinalist for the Queen of the Ring Tournament was determined on Friday night, as Jade Cargill, Charlotte Flair, Sol Ruca, and Lyra Valkyria competed for a spot in the next round.
Cargill had expressed her hope that winning the Queen of the Ring for a second consecutive year would propel her back to the top of the women’s division. However, it was the experienced Charlotte Flair who capitalized on the competitive field.
Valkyria attempted to pin Flair, but as she was stunned, Flair seized the opportunity. Ruca delivered a thrust kick to Valkyria as she prepared to execute Nightwing on Flair. Flair then hit Ruca with a big boot and locked Valkyria into the Figure Eight Leglock. Valkyria submitted, and Flair was declared the winner.
Flair is set to face Liv Morgan in the semifinals. Iyo Sky will compete against Raquel Rodriguez in the other semifinal match. The winners of these bouts will face each other at Night of Champions.
SmackDown Match Results:
Charlotte Flair defeated Lyra Valkyria, Jade Cargill, and Sol Ruca to advance in the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
Paige and Brie Bella defeated Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.
Rey Fenix defeated Axiom to retain the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.
Michin and B-Fab defeated Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green.
