SouthernWorldwide.com – The Trump administration has announced a significant achievement in its immigration enforcement efforts, reporting that federal authorities have apprehended over 10,000 individuals suspected of gang affiliations. This milestone was reached since President Donald Trump commenced his second term.
These arrests are a component of a broader immigration enforcement strategy by the administration. Officials state the campaign’s objective is to remove individuals involved in violent criminal activities from American communities.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the arrested individuals face accusations for a range of serious crimes. These include murder, assault with a deadly weapon, drug trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, robbery, and extortion.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin asserted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has successfully fulfilled the administration’s commitment to enhancing community safety across the nation.
TRUMP’S IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT PUSH RESULTS IN SKYROCKETING ARRESTS OF CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS
“Under President Trump’s leadership, ICE has arrested more than 10,000 gang members,” Mullin stated in a release. He further alleged that many of these individuals were previously released into the country by Joe Biden.
“These vicious criminals murdered, assaulted, robbed, and terrorized innocent Americans for sport,” Mullin added, highlighting the perceived danger posed by those apprehended.
“Thanks to the Secure America Act, ICE is turbocharged to arrest even more gang members and criminals from American neighborhoods,” Mullin concluded, emphasizing the impact of the legislation on enforcement capabilities.
DHS PREPS DEPORTATION OF ALLEGED MS-13 GANG MEMBER WANTED FOR PASTOR’S MURDER IN EL SALVADOR
The DHS identified the 10,000th suspected gang member taken into custody as Javier Hernandez Rosas. The agency described him as an alleged member of MS-13 and an undocumented immigrant from Mexico.
Records indicate that Rosas has previous convictions for cocaine possession. He had also been arrested previously on charges that included abduction and weapons possession, according to DHS reports.
This announcement coincides with news from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that it achieved a record staffing level in the spring. The agency reported having 21,471 agents, marking the highest number in its 102-year history.
Border security has been a cornerstone priority for the administration throughout Trump’s second term. Officials claim that instances of illegal immigration have seen a significant decrease, reportedly falling by more than 87% when compared to levels recorded in October 2024.
