SouthernWorldwide.com – Kirk Moore, the principal who heroically tackled a gunman at Pauls Valley High School last month, described his actions as pure instinct and attributed the outcome to divine intervention.

Moore stated in an exclusive interview with CBS News that he was unsure of his exact thoughts during the incident. He explained that he was simply driven to reach the unfolding situation.

Authorities confirmed that Moore’s brave intervention prevented any further injuries and led to the suspect’s apprehension.

“I believe it was simply instinct,” Moore shared regarding his response. He noted that after 37 years of experience, including training and drills, such preparations often fade away in a real crisis.

Surveillance footage from April 7 vividly captured Moore rushing towards the assailant, overpowering him onto a bench, and restraining him until another staff member managed to disarm the suspect.

“I am thankful that the situation resolved as it did,” Moore expressed during the interview. He reiterated his belief that “God’s hand was on all of us,” acknowledging that he couldn’t fully explain the sequence of events.

A more extensive discussion with Kirk Moore about this courageous act, along with a special acknowledgment for the principal, will be featured on “CBS Mornings” on Monday.
