SouthernWorldwide.com – The Acting U.S. Attorney General, Todd Blanche, announced on Friday the arrest of an individual who had issued death threats against an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer and their family during a protest in New Jersey on Thursday night.

This arrest followed closely behind Blanche’s public assurance that the protester, whose actions were captured on video, would be located and apprehended.

The video in question features the protester audibly taunting the ICE officer with explicit threats. The individual was heard saying, “I will kill your whole f—ing family. Your whole f—ing family is dead. Your children and wife all dead. I have your face mother—er! All dead!”

This incident occurred amidst ongoing protests outside the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark. The situation escalated on Thursday evening, with reports indicating that protesters were involved in physically assaulting ICE agents.

Blanche emphasized that the ICE officer was merely performing their duties and “standing there” when the threats were made. He later posted on X, formerly Twitter, stating, “Told you. @FBI just arrested the man who threatened to kill ICE officers and their families. FAFO.”

The identity of the arrested individual has not yet been released to the public.

The clashes outside the Delaney Hall detention center have been ongoing. On Thursday evening, agents reportedly deployed pepper spray and pushed back protesters as demonstrations continued into their sixth consecutive night.

Reports from Wednesday evening indicated that approximately 100 anti-ICE protesters had gathered around the facility. During these demonstrations, law enforcement officials stated that rioters assaulted and threw objects at officers.

In response to the escalating situation, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that local police had refused to assist their officers. Six individuals were arrested on Wednesday night for alleged assaults on law enforcement personnel.

A DHS official, identified as Mullin, expressed frustration during a Thursday morning appearance on Fox & Friends. He claimed that repeated requests for assistance from local and state police were denied, attributing this to the actions of Governor Sherrill.

The protests themselves began on Friday, May 22. They were sparked by an open letter from detainees at the facility, who alleged they were being denied medical care, inadequately fed, and held without due process.

The DHS has officially denied these allegations made by the detainees.
