“It definitely brings jobs, but it also presents numerous challenges from an infrastructure perspective, including water resources and road capacity,” stated Tubbs. “Nevertheless, it also brings a wealth of opportunities.”
A substantial portion of Celina’s workforce still commutes to nearby economic centers such as Frisco and McKinney. Officials are hopeful that future development will enable more residents to find employment closer to their homes. Tubbs mentioned that approximately 30% of residents work remotely, while the remainder commute to other North Texas cities.
He also pointed out that the largest employer in Celina is the school district, which employs nearly 1,000 individuals.
Tubbs expressed the city’s commitment to preserving the sense of community that has long been a hallmark of Celina, even as new residents continue to arrive in large numbers.
“If I were to offer advice to anyone considering a move to Texas, it would be to simply get involved,” Tubbs advised. “Contribute to the community and observe how much you receive in return.”
