Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Vows to Shut Down All Abortion Clinics

SouthernWorldwide.com – Florida Republican gubernatorial primary candidate James Fishback has expressed a strong stance against abortion, stating that if elected governor, he would aim to shut down every abortion clinic in the state.

Fishback, who has previously described abortion as “a holocaust,” outlined his vision for supporting expecting mothers. He proposed that these centers would offer a range of services, including free ultrasounds, baby food, diapers, and counseling.

Additionally, his plan includes providing prenatal and postpartum care. Fishback firmly believes that “Abortion is never the answer” and is committed to ensuring that “Every expecting mom in Florida deserves real support, and as Governor, I will make sure she gets it.”

This stance comes as other political figures in Florida are also making headlines for their campaign strategies. Notably, a Florida GOP candidate launched a Tinder account to engage young female voters.

The Guttmacher Institute, an organization focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights, reported earlier this year that as of December 2025, Florida had 49 clinics providing abortions. This number represents a decrease from the 53 clinics recorded in March 2024.

Fishback has been vocal on social media about his views. In a recent post on X, he asserted, “100% of abortions are murder. And as Governor, I’ll treat them as such.”

Further emphasizing his position, he wrote in another post last week, “It’s murder. And I’ll prosecute it as such. No more games. Abolish abortion.”

The Republican gubernatorial race in Florida is heating up, with several prominent figures vying for the nomination. President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., for the position.

Other candidates in the running include Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, Paul Renner.

The political landscape in Florida has also seen other unconventional campaign ideas. One Florida GOP candidate has proposed a 50% ‘sin tax’ on OnlyFans creators, aimed at combating what he describes as ‘cultural degeneracy.’

The primary contest for the Florida GOP gubernatorial nomination is scheduled for August 18, with the election still more than two months away.
