SouthernWorldwide.com – The New York Giants’ running back, Cam Skattebo, has recently addressed concerns about his playing style following a severe ankle injury that ended his rookie season prematurely. Despite the setback, Skattebo has vowed to maintain his aggressive, “violent” style of play, asserting that it is integral to his identity as a player.

While there has been considerable discussion surrounding Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and the potential need to adjust his approach to avoid injuries, the conversation has been less prominent for Skattebo. He is preparing for his second NFL season after his initial campaign was cut short by a gruesome ankle injury.

Skattebo stated on Wednesday that he has no intention of altering his playing style. He believes his aggressive approach is what defines him as a player and that he will not let the injury deter him from playing the way he knows best.

“It ain’t gonna change who I am,” Skattebo declared on NFL Network’s “The Insiders.” He acknowledged the injury but emphasized his belief in his own resilience and the ample football and life still ahead of him.

“I had an injury, it is what it is. I still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left. I’m not going to let this little ankle thing bother me,” he added.

Looking forward, Skattebo is determined to return to his established form. He expressed his eagerness to get back on the field and continue his physical style of play.

“I’m gonna get back (to) running people over. It’s going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out,” he affirmed, signaling his unwavering commitment to his aggressive brand of football.

Skattebo’s “smashmouth” style of play garnered significant praise from Giants fans throughout the 2025 season. He emerged as a bright spot for the team, complementing the development of players like Jaxson Dart.

In his eight games for New York last season, Skattebo demonstrated his effectiveness by amassing 410 rushing yards and scoring five touchdowns. He also proved to be a valuable asset in the passing game, contributing 24 catches for 207 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

During his recovery period, Skattebo faced some criticism for an incident where he was involved with WWE star JD McDonagh during an episode of “Monday Night Raw.” However, this seems to have had no bearing on his resolve to continue his physical approach to the game.

As Skattebo is expected to be fully recovered and back on the field, the Giants will be looking to him to be a significant contributor. His return is anticipated to help the team in their quest to regain past glory, or at the very least, to contend for a playoff spot in the 2026 season.
