SouthernWorldwide.com – A controversial streamer, Sneako, with over a million followers, has ignited a viral controversy after invoking the name of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani while declaring that Islam would take over the city.
The incident occurred amidst a group of Egyptian soccer fans, where drums and horns were playing and Egyptian flags were visible. The streamer, whose real name is Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, was heard shouting “Allahu Akbar!” which translates to “God is great” in Arabic.
Sneako has been described as a provocateur and has previously associated with the antisemitic far-right online. Interestingly, his political journey started with support for the far-left, including backing Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign in 2016. He reportedly converted to Islam in 2023.
The controversial moment took place on Friday night, following Egypt’s victory over Australia in the World Cup. Sneako was live broadcasting on the video streaming platform Kick from the streets of New York City.
Appearing to mock tears, Sneako exclaimed, “Oh no, oh no. F— you!” He then declared, “This is the Islamic Republic of New York-istan.”
“Islam will be in every household. Inshallah the whole world will be Muslim,” he continued. “Inshallah” is an Arabic phrase meaning “God willing.”
He further added, “Welcome to Mamdani’s New York. You see this city? You see how it looks? Inshallah, your city looks just like this too.”
Mayor Zohran Mamdani is noted as the first Muslim mayor of New York City. The streamer’s pronouncement was made in a context where Mamdani has previously criticized ICE agents, Elon Musk, and the concept of “supremacy” in America in a speech ahead of the July 4th weekend.
The clip of Sneako’s declaration rapidly spread across the internet, accumulating tens of millions of views on platforms like Instagram and X. It also drew widespread criticism from thousands of users.
A notable response came from Rob O’Neill, the Navy SEAL credited with the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden. O’Neill sarcastically commented, “These guys sound WAY different when you wake them up at 2am.”
Two prominent figures on X, known for their past disputes, united in demanding severe consequences for the streamer. Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones called for Sneako to be “Deport him NOW!!!”
This prompted a response from X owner Elon Musk, who simply replied, “Yes.”
It’s worth noting that Alex Jones had been permanently banned from X (formerly Twitter) when Musk acquired the platform. Musk initially expressed hesitation in reinstating Jones due to the controversy surrounding the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, but eventually relented.
Reactions from X users were largely negative, with one labeling Sneako a “Disgusting creature.” Another user suggested, “Send this dude to Iran if he hates America so much.”
Sneako seemingly alluded to the backlash in a cryptic post on X on Sunday night, stating, “Every knee will bow. Every tongue confess.”
On Monday, he directly addressed Musk’s echoing of Jones’ deportation suggestion. Sneako told Musk, who is originally from South Africa, “Go back to Africa. This is my country.”
