SouthernWorldwide.com – New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has addressed comparisons to former NFL player Tim Tebow, stating that he is not like him.

Dart, who is entering his second year in the NFL, has focused on building muscle, which was noticeable during the team’s organized activities.

“I’m not like Tim Tebow,” Dart said with a smile. “I’m not like that.”

While maintaining his quarterback physique, Dart has actively worked on his strength and conditioning in recent months. He believes he is leaner now, attributing it to the team’s strength staff and increased resources for nutrition.

He also highlighted the importance of staying healthy, mentioning that he managed to get through the past season without major issues, despite missing two games due to a concussion.

The topic of Dart taking unnecessary hits, particularly his tendency to slide, was discussed with the new coaching staff, including head coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. Dart acknowledged the need to avoid such hits to remain on the field.

The effectiveness of these adjustments will be truly tested when the regular season begins in September. Currently, the focus during offseason workouts is on developing chemistry with new pass-catchers.

Among these new additions are receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Isaiah Likely. Dart organized informal workouts in California earlier this spring to foster these connections.

“That’s some things that you should do,” Mooney commented. “The more reps you get with Dart, the more familiar he gets with you and the more connection you have.”

Several players were absent from Thursday’s practice due to injuries. Returning receivers Malik Nabers, who is recovering from a torn ACL, and Darius Slayton were among them. Slayton underwent surgery for a sports hernia and is expected to be ready for training camp.

Nabers’ recovery timeline is less certain, with no guarantee of his availability for the season opener. Coach Harbaugh acknowledged the difficulty of a first serious injury for a player and emphasized the team’s support and Nabers’ commitment to his rehabilitation.

Left tackle Andrew Thomas also participated in drills while managing shoulder and foot injuries, with both he and the training staff actively managing the situation.

In significant front-office news, the Giants announced a multiyear contract extension for general manager Joe Schoen. This extension solidifies his role and partnership with Harbaugh for the foreseeable future.

The extension signals confidence in Schoen’s leadership, especially after navigating Dexter Lawrence’s trade request and the team’s draft selections of Arvell Reese and Francis “Sisi” Mauigoa.

Harbaugh praised Schoen’s performance during the draft, highlighting his preparedness and effective communication under pressure.
