North Korea Amends Constitution for Automatic Nuclear Response to Kim Jong Un Assassination

SouthernWorldwide.com – North Korea has reportedly updated its constitution to mandate an automatic nuclear strike in the event of leader Kim Jong Un’s assassination.

This constitutional change comes amidst heightened global tensions, particularly following the recent killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other officials during a conflict.

Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed in an Israeli strike in Tehran earlier this year as part of a coordinated U.S.-Israeli military operation.

The revised constitution was approved during a session of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly, which commenced on March 22 in Pyongyang.

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) briefed senior government officials on this constitutional update earlier this week.

The updated policy details the procedures for a retaliatory action should North Korea’s leadership be incapacitated or killed.

The revised provision explicitly states that “If the command-and-control system over the state’s nuclear forces is placed in danger by hostile forces’ attacks … a nuclear strike shall be launched automatically and immediately.”

This move signifies a hardening of North Korea’s stance on nuclear deterrence and its leadership’s security.

In a related development, North Korea had previously revised its constitution to define its territory as bordering South Korea and to remove any references to reunification.

This constitutional amendment reflected Kim Jong Un’s initiative to formally treat the two Koreas as separate states.

This was the first instance where North Korea included a territorial clause within its constitution.

Just last month, Kim Jong Un pledged to further bolster the country’s nuclear capabilities.

He also maintained a hard-line stance towards South Korea, which he has publicly labeled as the “most hostile” state.

Furthermore, Kim Jong Un has accused the United States of engaging in “state terrorism and aggression.”

He has also signaled that North Korea might adopt a more active role in opposing Washington, particularly in light of escalating global tensions.

This constitutional update underscores North Korea’s commitment to its nuclear program and its perceived security threats.
