SouthernWorldwide.com – Sebastian Berhalter netted a brace, marking his first multi-goal performance of the season, as the Vancouver Whitecaps secured a 3-2 victory over FC Dallas on Wednesday night.
The win extended the Whitecaps’ unbeaten streak to seven consecutive games. Prior to this match, Vancouver had drawn their last two outings, a 1-1 tie against the LA Galaxy and a similar result against San Jose, marking their first time going winless in back-to-back matches this season.
FC Dallas faced a setback late in the game when head coach Eric Quill was sent off in the 87th minute after stepping onto the field.

Berhalter achieved a club milestone by becoming the first player in Vancouver Whitecaps history to record a goal contribution in nine of the first twelve games to commence a season.
For FC Dallas, Petar Musa and Logan Farrington each found the back of the net. Musa’s goal brought his season total to 11, placing him in a tie for second place in the MLS scoring charts alongside Lionel Messi of Inter Miami. Both trail Hugo Cuypers of Chicago, who leads the league with 12 goals.
Berhalter’s second goal of the match, which capped the scoring in the 64th minute, was a spectacular effort. Receiving a pass from Kenji Cabrera just outside the penalty area, he unleashed a first-time shot. The ball deflected off the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Michael Collodi, struck the back post, and ultimately found the net.
The equalizer for the Whitecaps came in the 23rd minute, also courtesy of Berhalter. After a one-handed save by Collodi, Berhalter’s shot from outside the penalty arc hit the crossbar and bounced into the goal. Just four minutes later, an own goal by Dallas’ Osaze Urhoghide gave Vancouver a 2-1 advantage.
FC Dallas, with this loss, now holds a record of 5 wins, 4 losses, and 4 draws. They had entered the match having won their two previous games.
Vancouver’s goalkeeper, Yohei Takaoka, made one save during the game.
On the other side, Michael Collodi recorded three saves for FC Dallas.
The Whitecaps’ Andres Cubas was forced to leave the game in the 87th minute due to an apparent injury. He was subsequently substituted by Thomas Muller.
