Trump Threatens Iran with ‘Decimation and Destruction’ Over Assassination Attempt

SouthernWorldwide.com – Former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran on Friday, asserting that the United States would “decimate and destroy” the country if Tehran were to attempt an assassination against him.

Trump conveyed his message through the social media platform Truth Social, stating, “1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!”

He further revealed that he had already instructed the U.S. military to be on standby for immediate retaliation should Iran proceed with any assassination plot targeting him.

This strong statement from Trump comes in the wake of a report by The Wall Street Journal, which indicated that Israeli intelligence had recently shared information with U.S. officials. This intelligence suggested that Iran was contemplating a new assassination plot against the former president.

Earlier in the week, while speaking with reporters at the NATO summit held in Ankara, Turkey, Trump had reiterated his belief that he remains Iran’s primary target.

“I’m No. 1 on the kill list for Iran,” the former president had stated at the time, amplifying concerns about renewed conflict and potential assassination threats.

Adding further weight to his stance, Trump also informed the New York Post on Friday that he had left standing instructions to retaliate against Iran with overwhelming force if an assassination attempt against him were to succeed.

“I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” Trump was quoted as saying. “… The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”

However, Trump also appeared to dismiss reports suggesting that Israeli intelligence had uncovered a *new* Iranian assassination plot specifically targeting him.

“No, no, Israel came up with nothing,” Trump told the newspaper. “I’ve been No. 1 [on Iran’s kill list] for a long time, and it’s the way life is, you know.”

The New York Times had previously reported that following Trump’s visit to Turkey, the U.S. Secret Service had recommended he utilize the older Air Force One aircraft instead of the newly retrofitted Boeing 747. This recommendation was reportedly made as a security precaution amidst heightened tensions with Iran.

While the White House did not explicitly confirm whether the aircraft change was linked to specific security concerns, they did note that the new Air Force One is equipped with advanced security features.

It is important to note that Iran has reportedly harbored intentions to assassinate Trump since he ordered the 2020 military strike that resulted in the death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.

This past week also saw mourners at the funeral for Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, repeatedly calling for Trump’s death, underscoring the ongoing animosity.

These developments also occur as a previously established U.S.-Iran ceasefire has reportedly unraveled in recent days.

Iran initiated attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz this week. This action prompted a renewed military response from the United States, including a new series of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure associated with maritime operations, as well as other military sites.

Following these Iranian attacks and the subsequent U.S. response, Trump has since declared the ceasefire “over” and has warned of further action should Iran persist with its aggressive actions.
