SouthernWorldwide.com – In a heated moment during Sunday’s WNBA game, Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese found herself in a physical altercation with Toronto Tempo forward Isabelle Harrison.
The incident occurred in the third quarter with the Dream holding a 10-point lead. As Reese attempted to make a move towards the basket after receiving an entry pass, Harrison forcefully pulled her down to the floor, a move described as typically seen in tackle football.
Reese, visibly furious upon getting back on her feet, had to be separated from Harrison by players from both teams. The referees assessed Harrison with a Flagrant 2 foul, resulting in her ejection from the game.
Reports indicated that Harrison was seen laughing as she exited the court towards the locker room. The intensity of the moment stemmed from a game-long battle between the two players, which included a notable amount of trash talk.
The Atlanta Dream ultimately secured a dominant victory over the Toronto Tempo, with the final score reading 102-77.
Angel Reese delivered a strong performance despite the controversy, tallying 15 points and an impressive 17 rebounds. Notably, she achieved a career-high of 11 offensive rebounds, falling just one shy of tying a WNBA single-game record in that category.
Prior to this game, Reese had been averaging 14.6 points and 11.9 rebounds per contest, having recorded nine double-doubles on the season.
Other key contributors for the Dream included Allisha Gray, who led the team with 26 points and seven assists, and Rhyne Howard, who added 24 points and six rebounds.
With this win, the Atlanta Dream improved their season record to 9-4.
Isabelle Harrison had managed to score 17 points and grab three rebounds before her ejection, leading the Toronto Tempo in scoring at the time. Julie Allemand contributed 13 points and six assists, while Maria Conde added 12 points coming off the bench for the Tempo.
The loss brought the Toronto Tempo’s season record down to 7-7.
The victory places the Atlanta Dream in fourth position in the WNBA standings. The Toronto Tempo, meanwhile, is ranked ninth, sitting just half a game behind the Los Angeles Sparks in the race for the final playoff spot.
