SouthernWorldwide.com – State-controlled media in the Islamic Republic of Iran is framing a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and address Tehran’s nuclear program as a victory over the United States and Israel.

This significant diplomatic development, referred to by its initials MOU, is scheduled to be finalized at a signing ceremony on June 19 in Switzerland. Iranian state television has declared that the “U.S. is forced to sign agreement to end the war.”

The U.S. State Department has identified Iran as the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism. Experts on Iran note that its state-controlled media is known for disseminating anti-American propaganda.

TRUMP ANNOUNCES PEACE DEAL WITH IRAN, DECLARES STRAIT OF HORMUZ WILL REOPEN: ‘LET THE OIL FLOW!’

According to Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, speaking to Tasnim News Agency, the memorandum is not based on trust of the enemy. He stated, “This memorandum does not mean trusting the enemy; it has been written with active distrust. We will monitor the implementation of U.S. commitments.”

Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the nation’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, emphasized the importance of national unity and public engagement as key elements of Iran’s diplomatic strength.

Araghchi further explained that Iran’s global influence is derived not only from its military capabilities but also from its national cohesion, resilience, and the active participation of its people.

The Iranian top diplomat asserted that the nation achieved significant strategic successes in recent conflicts, impacting both regional and global dynamics.

President Trump revealed some details of the MOU on social media, stating, “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete.” He also announced, “I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

However, other aspects of the MOU remain unconfirmed. These include the timeline for sanctions relief and the cessation of Iran’s uranium enrichment activities for nuclear weapons development.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council issued a statement indicating that all military operations across various fronts, including those in Lebanon, would cease “immediately and permanently” starting Sunday night.

Daftari, a prominent expert on the Islamic Republic, commented that the regime’s core strategy involves delay, deception, and denial. She noted that past agreements have been treated as temporary pauses rather than genuine shifts in behavior, leading to continued pursuit of missiles, proxies, and leverage.

She advised that while the specifics of the new deal are important, understanding the nature of the signatory is paramount. Daftari argued that a regime that relies on threatening its neighbors with weapons and deceiving its own population is unlikely to suddenly become a reliable partner.

Daftari concluded that the Trump administration should anticipate Tehran’s attempts to exploit any loopholes, conceal its capabilities, and resume its nuclear program, drone and missile buildup, and support for proxy groups, all while continuing to suppress its own people.

The agreement, as outlined, includes the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the naval blockade on Iran. Additionally, it reportedly ensures that Iran will not pursue or acquire nuclear weapons.

Cameron Khansarinia, chief of staff for Reza Pahlavi, the leader of the Iranian democratic opposition and exiled former crown prince, posted on X that regardless of any deal, the Iranian people will continue their fight for freedom. He emphasized that Iran’s future will be determined by Iranians, who will overthrow the Islamic Republic with or without external assistance.

Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), another leading opposition group, stated that the Iranian Resistance welcomes any understanding that ends the war and alleviates the suffering of the Iranian people. She asserted that only the remnants of the mullahs and the Shah have desired war.

Rajavi added that the regime’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, warmongering, and regional interference are integral to its survival strategy and will not be abandoned as long as possible. She described war as the regime’s defense against popular uprisings, while peace and ceasefires are detrimental to it.

She reiterated that the overthrow of the regime is the responsibility of the Iranian people and their organized Resistance. Rajavi stressed that any international agreement to end the war must also include an end to the execution of political prisoners and the killing of protesters.
