SouthernWorldwide.com – Marty O’Donnell, a candidate endorsed by Donald Trump, has advanced in a crowded Republican primary race. He is set to face off against the Democratic incumbent, Rep. Susie Lee, in Nevada’s 3rd congressional district.

O’Donnell is widely recognized as the composer behind the highly successful “Halo” and “Destiny” video game franchises. His campaign platform emphasizes putting “families first,” supporting small businesses, and enhancing community safety.

This district is known as one of Nevada’s most competitive battlegrounds, with its suburban voters frequently determining the outcome of close elections. The district was carried by Donald Trump in 2016 and again in 2024, while Joe Biden secured it in 2020.

O’Donnell entered the primary with significant backing from the Republican party, having secured endorsements from both Donald Trump and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo.

‘HALO’ COMPOSER RUNNING FOR CONGRESS DRAWS PARALLELS TO DECLINE OF WOKENESS IN GAMING TO TRUMP’S RE-ELECTION

Trump, in his endorsement on Truth Social in April, stated that Susie Lee advocates for “Open Borders, Men playing in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, Defund the Police,” and aims to restrict Second Amendment rights. He also noted her opposition to the “Biggest Tax Cut in History” and her efforts against rural healthcare initiatives, which he highlighted as crucial for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.

Conversely, Trump described Marty O’Donnell as a “World-Class Composer and Entrepreneur” who understands the “America First Policies” necessary for job creation, tax and regulation reduction, promoting “MADE IN THE U.S.A.,” and fostering a “Golden Age” for the nation. Trump asserted that O’Donnell would fight for American energy dominance, border security, crime reduction, law and order, military and veteran support, and the protection of the Second Amendment.

The video game composer has drawn comparisons between the fight against “woke” ideology in video games and the political arena during his congressional campaign.

O’Donnell expressed his belief in 2025 that the renewed interest in the original “Halo” game was largely a response to the “wokification” of the gaming industry. He stated that after years of gamers resisting the integration of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) into the industry, they are finally achieving success.

He further described witnessing the “beginning of DEI” in the industry and how the sector faced public backlash for games that alienated players through identity politics. O’Donnell questioned how gamers reacted to having elements “forced on them by non-gamers developing these characters in the studio,” concluding that they “revolted.”

The “Halo” games, which chronicle humanity’s conflict with alien adversaries, have achieved tens of millions of sales since their debut in 2001, establishing themselves as one of the most recognizable and enduring video game franchises.

DEM SENATOR REVEALS HOW SHE NARROWLY WON KEY STATE THAT TRUMP FLIPPED: ‘BE PRACTICAL TO FIND RESULTS’

The district’s substantial suburban electorate voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, even as Lee narrowly won her congressional race, a seat she has held since 2019.

Lee, a former second-grade teacher, has expressed strong opposition to Trump’s proposal to abolish the Department of Education. Instead, she advocates for increased federal funding for public schools, special education, and after-school programs.

Lee, who identifies as a moderate, has also focused her campaign on issues of cost of living and healthcare, aiming to reduce expenses for families.

O’Donnell supports stringent border control measures, the completion of a border wall, and efforts to combat human and drug trafficking.

While Lee has occasionally supported enhanced border security measures, she opposes Trump’s proposals to restrict birthright citizenship and has voiced criticism regarding certain aspects of his immigration policies.
