In 2025, Scottie Scheffler claimed the Wanamaker Trophy, winning the PGA Championship by a dominant five strokes at Quail Hollow Golf Club. He is currently the favorite to repeat, with odds at +380.
However, Scheffler has only secured one win so far this season, which is somewhat unusual for him given his six victories in 2025 and seven in 2024. Despite this, he enters the tournament with three consecutive runner-up finishes in his last three events, indicating he might be hitting his stride at the opportune moment.
Rory McIlroy (+910) is considered the second-strongest contender. This comes after his second consecutive Masters victory in April.

Xander Schauffele has an impressive record, finishing inside the top 20 in 15 of his last 16 major appearances since 2022. While the top-20 market may be the most secure bet, he also has a strong chance to win the tournament outright.
In his last five tour starts, Schauffele has achieved a top-12 finish four times. He is ranked seventh on tour in scrambling and has gained over two strokes on approach in two of his last five starts. He won two majors in 2024, including the PGA Championship, and has a significant opportunity to become a two-time winner of this event.
Matt Fitzpatrick could be argued as the best golfer in the world this season. He has three victories in his last five starts, along with a close second-place finish at The Players Championship. Fitzpatrick is currently fifth on the PGA Tour in approach play and has gained strokes on approach in 11 of his last 12 starts.
His short game has also been exceptional this year. This will be particularly crucial at Aronimink, as he has gained strokes around the green in eight consecutive starts.
Fitzpatrick appears to be on the verge of securing a major championship win this season.
Patrick Cantlay might present the best value in the entire field this week. Despite his past major championship performances not being stellar, he is too talented to be listed with odds above 50-1. Cantlay is coming off four consecutive top-12 finishes, including a T-12 at the Masters, where he made a significant move up the leaderboard over the weekend after an opening round of +5 on Thursday.
His putting has been a challenge at times this season, but he recorded his best putting weekend of the year last week at the Truist Championship, entering this tournament with considerable momentum.
A strong short game is expected to be paramount this week at Aronimink, and Robert MacIntyre is recognized as one of the world’s premier putters. Despite missing the cut at the Masters earlier this year, his recent major championship form has been noteworthy, with a runner-up finish at the U.S. Open and a T-7 at The Open Championship last season.
His recent form has been somewhat inconsistent, with a missed cut, a T-42, and a T-60 in his last three starts. However, he has a tendency to elevate his game in major events, as demonstrated by his fourth-place finish at The Players Championship earlier this year.
The last time Adam Scott emerged victorious in a golf tournament was in February 2020. So, why consider a wager on him this weekend? Because he has been one of the most proficient ball-strikers on the Tour this season. Scott leads the Tour in approach play from inside 100 yards, ranks third overall in total strokes gained on approach, and is within the top 10 in several other ball-striking categories.
He has already achieved two top-five finishes this season and brings extensive major championship experience to the event. Although he ranks only 90th on Tour in putting, which has largely prevented a breakout year, he gained strokes on the greens last week for the first time in five starts. If he can maintain even slightly above-average putting this week, his exceptional iron play is sufficient to propel him into contention for the win.
