Chiefs Receiver Rashee Rice Faces 30-Day Jail Sentence for Probation Violation

SouthernWorldwide.com – Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is currently serving a 30-day jail sentence for violating his probation, a consequence stemming from a reckless driving charge during the 2024 offseason.

This marks another incident in a series of off-field troubles for Rice during the NFL’s offseason.

The most recent violation occurred on Tuesday when Rice tested positive for marijuana (THC). This action contravened the terms of a plea agreement reached in July 2025, which placed him on five years of probation and mandated a 30-day jail term to be served over a five-year period.

Rice was booked into the Dallas County jail in Texas on Tuesday and is scheduled for release on June 16, completing his 30-day sentence.

CHIEFS STAR RASHEE RICE WILL PARTICIPATE FULLY IN TRAINING CAMP DESPITE LOOMING SUSPENSION, ANDY REID SAYS

The probation violation order requires Rice to immediately commence the 30-day jail sentence that was originally imposed, rather than facing an additional 30 days. During his trial last year, Rice was also ordered to pay a total of $115,481.91 in restitution to the victims of the crash for their medical expenses.

With Rice incarcerated for the next 30 days, he will miss the remaining Chiefs OTAs (Organized Team Activities) scheduled for May 26-28 and June 1-3, as well as their mandatory minicamp from June 9-11.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS’ RASHEE RICE HIT WITH LAWSUIT FROM EX-GIRLFRIEND ALLEGING DOMESTIC ABUSE: REPORT

Neither the NFL nor the Kansas City Chiefs have yet to issue an immediate comment in response to inquiries.

However, the situation for Rice could potentially escalate further.

It is plausible that this breach of his probation agreement could trigger a new investigation under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.

RASHEE RICE SUSPENDED SIX GAMES BY NFL

Rice previously served a six-game suspension for violating the Personal Conduct Policy last year, in connection with his driving offense and subsequent trial.

This suspension was reportedly a negotiated settlement with the league. Sources indicate that the NFL initially sought a suspension for Rice spanning double-digit games. Rice, on the other hand, aimed to miss no more than a month, and an agreement was reached before a hearing officer made a ruling.

A new investigation under the Personal Conduct Policy could result in Rice missing more games when the 2026 regular season commences.

The Chiefs are now facing a clear challenge with this ongoing issue.

Rice, who is considered one of the team’s more effective receivers with 156 catches in his first three NFL seasons, has demonstrated a pattern of being unable to avoid trouble. The team may also opt to fine Rice for his absence from the mandatory minicamp.

Last year, Rice pleaded guilty to felony charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury.
