SouthernWorldwide.com – Green Bay Packers’ Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday, facing multiple charges related to domestic abuse. The arrest followed an investigation by the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, with Jacobs being booked into the Brown County Jail.

Jacobs has been charged with five offenses, including battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. All of these charges are domestic abuse-related.

Among the charges, strangulation and suffocation is classified as a felony offense. The other four charges are considered misdemeanors, according to Brown County Jail records.

The incident that led to Jacobs’ arrest reportedly occurred on Saturday. Police were initially dispatched to a disturbance complaint at 8:37 a.m. on that day.

The 28-year-old player has retained legal counsel and has denied any wrongdoing. His representatives, David Z. Chesnoff and Clarence Duchac, issued a statement asserting Jacobs’ vehement denial of the allegations.

“This matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public,” the statement read. “We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.”

Both the NFL and the Green Bay Packers have acknowledged awareness of the situation. A spokesman for the NFL stated, “We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club.”

The Packers issued their own statement to The Athletic, indicating they are aware of the situation involving Josh Jacobs. Due to the ongoing legal nature of the matter, the team stated they would withhold further comment.

This arrest casts a shadow over Jacobs’ career, which has been marked by significant success on the field. He has re-established himself as one of the NFL’s premier running backs since joining the Packers.

In his first season with Green Bay in 2024, Jacobs had a standout performance. He rushed for 1,329 yards and a career-high 15 touchdowns. Additionally, he accumulated over 300 receiving yards and scored another touchdown through the air.

His impressive statistics earned him his third career Pro Bowl selection. He became a crucial element of coach Matt LaFleur’s offensive strategy, contributing to the Packers’ balanced offensive attack.

Jacobs’ 15 rushing touchdowns tied for the third-highest single-season total in franchise history. The Packers viewed his signing as a significant improvement, especially after parting ways with their longtime starter, Aaron Jones.

Prior to his time in Green Bay, Jacobs spent five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was initially selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft after a successful collegiate career at Alabama.

Jacobs made an immediate impact as a rookie, rushing for 1,150 yards. His performance that season garnered votes for the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award, ultimately finishing second in the balloting.

The most dominant season of Jacobs’ career occurred in 2022 while he was with the Las Vegas Raiders. He led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,653 and surpassed 2,000 yards from scrimmage. This exceptional season resulted in first-team All-Pro honors and his second Pro Bowl selection.

He also became the first Raiders running back since Marcus Allen to achieve the distinction of leading the league in rushing yards.
