Ray Stier, a member of the school board, was honored by McClain on Thursday with an American flag and a copy of the Congressional Record for his service. Stier had been deployed in the Middle East and participated in board meetings remotely. However, he eventually lost his virtual access, which led the board to call for his removal, citing the “disservice” caused by his absence.
Stier recounted how a family member of one of the board members allegedly spread misinformation on social media about him and his wife. This misinformation, he stated, was factually inaccurate and ultimately led to calls for his resignation and prompted others to contact the district to initiate a recall process.

McClain highlighted an incident at Stone Bridge High School in Loudoun County, Virginia. In this case, students who filmed an incident in a locker room reportedly received a 10-day suspension. She contrasted this with the biological female who did the filming, who allegedly received only a one-day suspension. McClain questioned the fairness and logic of this disparity.
Regarding Stier’s situation, McClain raised concerns about whether the board’s actions were solely motivated by his deployment overseas. Stier had previously clashed with the board after discovering that some of the district’s bathroom policies would permit fourth-grade students to use the same restrooms as transgender eighth-grade boys.
McClain pointed out that the school board seat had been vacant for two months before Stier filled it. She suggested that this timeline weakens the argument that the board was eager to remove him due to his absence, implying other motives might be at play.
