SouthernWorldwide.com – Recent reports suggest that the Milwaukee Bucks are open to exploring trade offers for their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
This development marks a significant turn in the ongoing speculation surrounding the two-time MVP’s future with the team.
ESPN reported on Monday that the Bucks are actively seeking a deal that would bring them a “young blue-chip prospect and/or a surplus of draft picks” in exchange for Antetokounmpo.
This news comes shortly after Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam expressed his desire to resolve the situation before the upcoming NBA Draft.
Haslam stated at a press conference introducing new head coach Taylor Jenkins that a trade before the draft would be a natural timeline. He emphasized the need for the team to acquire significant assets if Antetokounmpo were to be traded.
Conversely, if Antetokounmpo were to stay, Haslam indicated that the team’s strategy for building the roster would differ.
Antetokounmpo himself has previously stated his contentment with playing in Milwaukee. However, he also expressed a desire to compete for championships and play for a team that is committed to winning.
The acquisition of Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers prior to the 2023-24 season was initially seen as a move to bolster the Bucks’ championship aspirations alongside Antetokounmpo.
However, Lillard’s tenure in Milwaukee was cut short by an Achilles injury, and he subsequently re-signed with Portland.

The 2025-26 season proved challenging for the Bucks, as they finished with a 32-50 record, missing the playoffs for the first time in nine years.
Haslam also commented on the team’s communication with Antetokounmpo, noting that there have been no issues in direct communication.
He indicated that discussions about Antetokounmpo’s future have been ongoing since the season concluded.
The decision regarding whether Antetokounmpo will sign a maximum contract extension and remain with the Bucks, or pursue opportunities elsewhere, is expected within the next six to seven weeks.
Haslam, alongside co-owner Wes Edens and General Manager Jon Horst, will be involved in making this critical decision.
The Milwaukee Bucks currently hold the 10th overall pick in the first round of the NBA Draft, which could be valuable in rebuilding efforts should a trade for Antetokounmpo materialize.
Antetokounmpo was notably sidelined for the final games of the season.
While the Bucks attributed his absence to injury, the 10-time All-Star reportedly felt healthy enough to play.
Throughout the season, Antetokounmpo averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists across 36 games played.
