The Kane County Cougars, an independent professional baseball team based in the U.S., were in Canada to play against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Their journey took a dramatic turn when their team bus was found engulfed in flames.
On May 21, law enforcement officers responded to reports of the bus on fire outside Blue Cross Park. Initial investigations by the Winnipeg Police Service indicated that the fire was not accidental.
Two teenagers were initially taken into custody at the scene. Following further investigation, a 15-year-old girl has now been formally charged. The charges include arson causing damage to property and possession of incendiary material.
According to police, the teenager was subsequently released into the care of a responsible adult. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The entire bus and its contents were destroyed,” stated the Winnipeg Police Service in a public release detailing the event. The loss of the bus represents a significant setback for the team and its operations.
