SouthernWorldwide.com – Christian Pulisic, widely regarded as one of the premier American soccer talents, has finally broken his scoring drought in a recent victory against Senegal.
Pulisic’s goal-scoring silence had become a peculiar talking point leading up to the friendly match. He had not found the back of the net since December 28, in a Serie A game where his club, AC Milan, triumphed over Hellas Verona.
The pressure was visibly lifted on Sunday when Pulisic scored in the 19th minute of the U.S. national team’s encounter with Senegal.

“Now maybe we can stop talking about it,” Pulisic remarked following the match, expressing relief at ending the prolonged period without a goal.
The United States secured a 3-2 win, despite Sadio ManĂ©’s equalizer early in the second half. Folarin Balogun later put the U.S. back in the lead in the 62nd minute, sealing the victory.
Prior to this goal, Pulisic had gone scoreless in his last 19 appearances for AC Milan. This also extended to an eight-match scoreless streak while representing the U.S. national team.
“I felt this confidence, like I have played really well in recent months, but all everyone seems to want to worry about is goals. So, hopefully, we can stop talking about it,” Pulisic shared. He emphasized his readiness for upcoming games.
Pulisic further elaborated on the immense relief he felt in finally scoring.
“The performance of Christian, for 45 minutes, was really, really good,” commented U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino. He believes Pulisic still has room for improvement and highlighted the player’s consistent training habits and commitment.
Pochettino added, “I am happy for him also because after a long time, a few months, he scored again. Obviously, that is important for our players in the preparation to the World Cup.”
The U.S. team is scheduled to face Germany in their next friendly match on Saturday. Following this, their focus will shift to their opening Group D match in the World Cup against Paraguay.
