SouthernWorldwide.com – Three individuals with Cuban nationality, including a man alleged to have worked for over a decade with a Cuban government influence organization within the United States, have been taken into federal custody. This action follows the termination of their legal status by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The State Department confirmed on Wednesday that Carlos Antonio Lloga Dominguez, along with his wife and son, are currently in federal custody and are awaiting removal from the U.S.

According to the State Department, Lloga Dominguez served for more than ten years as a “foreign subversive” employed by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP). ICAP is described as the communist Cuban regime’s “premier influence and intelligence front group in the United States.” He is accused of maintaining ongoing connections to the transnational communist subversion network during his residency in the U.S.

ICAP itself faced sanctions earlier this month. The organization has denied any wrongdoing, asserting its identity as a civil society organization.

The State Department contends that ICAP maintains a significant presence across the United States. It is accused of disseminating “vile anti-American propaganda,” cultivating activists and politicians supportive of the Havana regime, and lobbying federal, state, and local officials on behalf of the Cuban dictatorship.

Founded by Fidel Castro in 1960 with the aim of spreading Marxism globally, ICAP has been accused of collaborating with far-left groups in America to “export Cuba’s Communist revolution to the United States.”

The State Department characterizes ICAP as the “central node in a sprawling Cuban intelligence and influence operation,” claiming its reach extends to over 2,000 organizations in more than 150 countries.

The sanctions imposed on ICAP by Rubio have resulted in the freezing of all its U.S.-based assets. Furthermore, these sanctions generally prohibit Americans from conducting business with the organization.

“America will never become home for foreign communists who peddle propaganda, run subversive influence operations, or support radical anti-American movements within the United States,” Rubio stated on social media. He added, “Transact with ICAP and you will be sanctioned, prosecuted or deported from our country.”

These alleged influence campaigns involve several non-profit organizations, many of which are reportedly funded by businessman and far-left activist Neville Roy Singham. These organizations include the People’s Forum, Breakthrough News, Tricontinental, CodePink, the ANSWER Coalition, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

The Department of Justice and the Treasury Department are currently investigating this alleged influence campaign.

CodePink, an organization co-founded by Jodie Evans, who is reportedly married to Singham, led a convoy to Cuba earlier this year to deliver aid to the country. This trip occurred after President Donald Trump had imposed an oil blockade on Cuba.

The convoy has since drawn federal scrutiny. Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of CodePink, has confirmed that she has been questioned by federal officials regarding potential violations of American sanctions on Cuba.
