SouthernWorldwide.com – Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin is once again facing intense pressure from within his own party. This renewed scrutiny comes after he reversed his long-held position and finally released the DNC’s much-anticipated autopsy report on its 2024 election defeat.
For months, Martin had refused to make the report public. The document was intended to analyze the reasons behind former Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss in the 2024 presidential election. However, on Thursday, Martin changed course and released the report.
Martin explained that his initial belief was that releasing the report would be a distraction. He later stated, however, that the decision *not* to release it had become “an even bigger distraction.”
Critics within the Democratic Party argued that the report, when finally released, was far from thorough or complete. Many felt it lacked the depth needed to truly understand the election’s outcome.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, expressed her disappointment to reporters. She highlighted the striking absence of any mention of Gaza in the report.
“I think it’s pretty unbelievable that Gaza would not be mentioned once in the autopsy report,” she stated. Ocasio-Cortez believes this omission is a significant oversight.
She further elaborated that the situation in Gaza was a major dynamic in 2024. Regardless of individual feelings about the issue, its absence from the analysis is problematic. She emphasized its importance for young voters and its undeniable impact on the political environment.
Ocasio-Cortez also shared her personal experience as a candidate. She asserted that the issue of Gaza was impossible to ignore and certainly not immaterial during that election cycle.
She concluded that failing to address or assess this critical aspect of the political landscape is a genuine disservice to the party’s understanding of its loss.
Ocasio-Cortez was not the only member of Congress to voice criticism regarding the report’s content.
Representative Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, also criticized the document for its failure to include any discussion of Gaza.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Khanna stated that one of the reasons for the party’s loss was its “blank check” to Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu while alleged genocidal actions were occurring in Gaza.
He stressed the necessity for the party to confront difficult truths if it hopes to achieve victory in 2028.

Some Democrats went even further in their criticism. Representative Mark Veasey, a Democrat from Texas, publicly called for Ken Martin’s resignation.
Veasey conveyed to Semafor that there appears to be no clear plan to improve the party’s standing. He noted that time is running out, with the next election just around the corner in November.
He expressed his belief that it is time for Martin to step down from his position.
Democratic strategist Steve Schale described the report’s release as “an unmitigated s—show,” according to NBC. He further commented that there is a general lack of confidence in the DNC’s competence.
Ken Martin himself acknowledged the report’s shortcomings. In a message released on Thursday, he admitted that he was not proud of the product.
“It does not meet my standards, and it won’t meet your standards,” he wrote. Martin claimed that he could not in good faith endorse the DNC’s name on such a report.
According to CNN, entire sections of the report, which was authored by Democratic strategist Paul Rivera, were left intentionally blank. The document was also reportedly filled with numerous omissions and factual inaccuracies.
Beyond the conspicuous absence of any mention of the Gaza conflict, which reportedly divided party voters, the report also failed to address other significant factors. These included former President Joe Biden’s age and Kamala Harris’ choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
