SouthernWorldwide.com – In a significant operation targeting illicit drug trafficking, joint efforts by United States and Mexican law enforcement have resulted in the seizure of dozens of cocaine packages in the Pacific Ocean. This operation is part of a broader global initiative to combat the flow of illegal substances.
The operation began when U.S. Customs and Border Patrol aircraft detected a high-speed boat in the Pacific waters off the Mexican coast. According to the Joint Interagency Task Force South, an organization comprising 21 partner nations including the U.S. and Mexico, the vessel’s crew began discarding bales of cocaine into the sea upon realizing they had been spotted.
The Mexican navy responded swiftly to the situation, successfully recovering the discarded drugs. The task force reported that approximately 1,990 pounds of cocaine were seized. Images from the operation depict the extensive efforts undertaken to retrieve the cocaine packages from the ocean.

Furthermore, Mexican naval forces executed a fast-rope maneuver, deploying Marines directly onto the deck of the go-fast vessel. The Joint Interagency Task Force South has not yet provided details regarding any arrests made during this operation.

This recent seizure is part of a series of at least three distinct operations conducted by the Mexican navy in the Pacific Ocean, as indicated by a social media post from the agency. In one of these operations, naval forces successfully recovered 22 packages of cocaine and, in a separate but related action, rescued 11 individuals who had been shipwrecked near Guerrero.
The rescued individuals received immediate medical attention before being transferred to immigration authorities, according to official statements. In another operation, the navy discovered seven packages of cocaine while conducting an inspection of a container ship docked in the port city of Manzanillo. Three stowaways were also apprehended and detained during this inspection.
The third operation involved the recovery of an additional 34 packages of illicit cargo from a vessel near Acapulco. These recovered packages were subsequently transported to the Oaxacan coast for destruction.
The Mexican navy has not specified the exact dates these operations took place, nor has it clarified which of these efforts received assistance from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. However, the navy did report that under the current administration, a total of 65.5 tons of illicit cocaine have been seized.

Earlier this year, authorities from both the U.S. and Mexico announced the seizure of nearly 200 packages containing several tons of cocaine. This significant bust was the result of a coordinated operation conducted on a ship in the Pacific Ocean.
