SouthernWorldwide.com – A startling incident unfolded during a recent Chicago White Sox game against the Kansas City Royals, resulting in a fan being hospitalized after a fall into the visiting bullpen.

The game experienced a brief delay in the fourth inning as stadium personnel attended to the fan. This occurred when the Royals had runners on first and second base with no outs. Reports indicate that a stretcher was used to move the fan from the bullpen area.

The Chicago White Sox later issued a statement expressing optimism about the fan’s recovery, suggesting they were moving in the right direction.

Footage from MLB.com Research, captured from a wide-angle perspective, shows the fan’s fall. It appears the individual went over a barrier approximately three feet high. This barrier is located in front of the first row of Section 105, within the right-field seating area of the ballpark.

The video also shows the fan regaining their feet momentarily. This happened just as Chicago second baseman Chase Meidroth hit a sacrifice fly. The ball was caught by Royals center fielder Lane Thomas for the first out of the bottom of the third inning.

Subsequently, the fan continued over the barrier. They landed in an area covered with grass and dirt, situated at the west end of the bullpen. This landing spot was in front of a red advertisement for a local butcher shop.

The bullpen itself is positioned behind the stadium’s right-field wall. It is located in front of Sections 104 and 105.

The barrier’s base is constructed of concrete, rising about ten to twelve inches. This is topped by a metal fence that stands roughly two feet high. The front row of seats is situated approximately three feet behind this fence.

Following the fan’s fall, the Kansas City Royals relievers repositioned themselves to a far corner of the bullpen.

A comparable event took place last year during a Pittsburgh Pirates game. In that instance, a fan fell over the wall and descended nearly twenty feet onto the outfield warning track.

Kavan Markwood, the fan involved in the Pirates game incident, was urgently transported to Allegheny General Hospital’s trauma unit. He was reported to be in critical condition following the accident. Players on the field appeared visibly distressed, as did many spectators. Medical staff from both teams, along with EMS personnel, placed him on a stretcher and transported him off the field.
