SouthernWorldwide.com – Ford Motor Company is initiating recalls for over 177,000 vehicles across three distinct issues, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The automotive manufacturer is recalling specific models due to potential safety concerns identified by the NHTSA.

The affected vehicles include 67,842 units of the 2024-2026 Ford Mustang and 2025-2026 Mustang GTD models. These vehicles are subject to recall because of a malfunction in the windshield wiper and washing system.

Furthermore, 42,784 units of the 2021-2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E are being recalled. This recall is due to a risk of fracture in the pinion shaft, a critical component of the drivetrain.

Additionally, 66,383 units of the 2024-2027 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and 2025-2027 Ford Explorer Hybrid models are included in the recalls. These vehicles have a software error that may prevent the pedestrian warning sound from activating.

The malfunction in the windshield wiper and washing system for the Mustang models can manifest in cold weather conditions. In such scenarios, the wipers might only operate at their highest speed, and the washing system could fail entirely.

Owners of affected vehicles are advised to take them to authorized Ford dealerships. The dealerships will perform any necessary repairs at no cost to the customer. Owners can anticipate receiving notification letters detailing the safety risks this month. The NHTSA recall identification number for this issue is 26V418000.

The pinion shaft issue poses a risk of losing drive power. In a parked vehicle, if the parking brake is not engaged, the vehicle could potentially move on its own. The NHTSA has stated that dealerships will conduct the required repairs free of charge. The recall number assigned by the agency for this defect is 26V417000.

For the Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and Ford Explorer Hybrid vehicles experiencing issues with the pedestrian warning sound system, a free replacement of the system will be provided. The NHTSA recall number associated with this problem is 26V415000.

This latest round of recalls follows a similar action taken by Ford in late June. At that time, the company recalled over 741,000 vehicles due to a faulty park system that could lead to unintended vehicle rollaways.
