SouthernWorldwide.com – A former Savannah Bananas player has earned a spot in the MLB All-Star Game, receiving the news just about 12 hours after achieving a rare feat in the majors: hitting for the cycle as a rookie.

Tristan Peters, an outfielder for the Chicago White Sox, was named to the American League All-Star team. He is filling a roster spot vacated by Nick Kurtz, who was recently placed on the injured list.

Peters accomplished the remarkable feat of hitting for the cycle, which is the first time a White Sox player has done so in nine years. He completed the cycle with a triple hit down the right-field line in his final at-bat of the game.

His historic game included a double in the third inning and an RBI single in the fifth. In the seventh inning, Peters added two more hits to his impressive performance: a two-run home run to center field and an RBI triple. This made him the seventh player in the White Sox franchise history to hit for the cycle, with the last one being José Abreu in 2017.

Peters’ journey to the major leagues has been unconventional. He played for the Savannah Bananas five years ago, following his time at Southern Illinois University. It was during his tenure with the Bananas that he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh round of the MLB Draft.

Before arriving in Chicago, Peters was involved in three separate trades. The Brewers traded him to the San Francisco Giants at the 2022 trade deadline. Three months later, the Giants sent him to the Tampa Bay Rays. After spending three seasons in the Rays’ minor league system and making his MLB debut with Tampa Bay, Peters was traded to the White Sox during the most recent offseason.

Peters made the White Sox’s opening day roster, entering a season many anticipated would be challenging for the team. The club had lost a combined 324 games between 2023 and 2025. However, contrary to expectations, Chicago is currently tied for first place in the American League Central, with Peters being a significant contributor to their success.

This season, Peters is demonstrating strong offensive performance. He is currently batting .303, with an .841 OPS, and has recorded 20 doubles.
