SouthernWorldwide.com – Democratic House candidate George Conway has declared his intention to pursue a third impeachment of President Donald Trump and ensure he is “put away for good” should he be elected to Congress.

Conway, a seasoned conservative lawyer who has become a prominent critic of Trump, is competing for the Democratic nomination in a highly contested primary. He aims to represent a strongly Democratic district in central Manhattan.

His campaign promise includes advocating for Trump’s third impeachment and potential criminal prosecution if voters select him to represent New York’s 12th Congressional District. The primary election is scheduled for June 23.

“Hi, Donald. It’s me, George Conway. I cost you 88 f—— million dollars, and I’ve only just gotten started,” Conway stated in a 60-second video released on Monday. The footage was filmed with the U.S. Capitol in the background.

He continued, “I know you like putting your name on everything from your plane to the Kennedy Center. But the only thing your name is going to be left on when I’m done with you is the orange jumpsuit you’re going to have to wear in prison.”

Pointing towards the Capitol building, Conway added, “And you see that building back there? That’s where we’re going to hold your third and final impeachment trial, the one that’s going to put you away for good, and I’m going to enjoy every minute of that.”

A spokesperson for Trump responded to Conway’s remarks, stating, “Lightweight George Conway is a stupid person’s idea of a smart person. His severe and debilitating disease known as Trump Derangement syndrome has melted his brain and made him crazy in the head.”

Conway’s impeachment threat emerges at a time when Democratic leadership has not yet committed to another impeachment effort, even if the party regains control of the House in November. However, several Democratic lawmakers have already called for Trump’s removal.

Democrats have impeached Trump twice before, in 2020 and 2021. On both occasions, he was acquitted by the Republican-controlled Senate.

Conway, who relocated from Bethesda, Maryland, to launch his congressional bid, faces a challenging race for the heavily Democratic seat. This seat was previously held by longtime Representative Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., who is retiring.

According to an Emerson College poll released in May, Conway is trailing behind state Assembly members Micah Lasher and Alex Bores, D-N.Y., and Jack Schlossberg. Schlossberg is known as a social media provocateur and is the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy.

The poll surveyed 425 likely Democratic primary voters. It indicated Lasher and Bores in a close race, with 22% and 20% of the vote, respectively. Schlossberg garnered 11% support, and Conway received 10%.

Lasher, who previously served as an aide to Nadler, has secured endorsements from the retiring congressman, as well as from Governor Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg.

Given the district’s significant Democratic voter advantage, the winner of the primary is highly likely to win the general election.

During Trump’s first term, Conway became a frequent guest on cable news programs as an anti-Trump commentator. He also co-founded the Lincoln Project, an organization dedicated to opposing Trump’s re-election campaign in 2020.

Conway was formerly married to Kellyanne Conway, who served as Trump’s campaign manager, for over two decades. The couple finalized their divorce in 2023.
