Platner, who is the presumptive Democratic nominee, is set to challenge five-term Republican Sen. Susan Collins in the upcoming November elections. His appearance with Sanders at a “Fighting Oligarchy” rally was a strategic move to energize progressive voters and bolster grassroots organizing efforts ahead of the midterms.
During the rally, Platner delivered a passionate speech that resonated with the progressive audience, heavily employing anti-corporate rhetoric. He urged attendees to actively participate in building a “political revolution” and reclaiming what he described as “ours.”
“We are taking back what is ours,” Platner declared to the cheering crowd. “We’re going to take it back from the corporations that seek profit, no matter the cost from the billionaires for whom greed is the point, and from corrupt politicians like Susan Collins, corrupt politicians who have sold us out.”
His message directly targeted the influence of corporate interests and the wealthy elite, framing them as obstacles to the well-being of ordinary citizens. Platner explicitly criticized the profit-driven motives of corporations and the perceived greed of billionaires.

He mentioned legislation aimed at imposing a 5% annual wealth tax on the nation’s wealthiest individuals, noting that there are 938 billionaires in America who would be affected by such a policy. Sanders warned that a small group of billionaires could potentially control the future of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
