SouthernWorldwide.com – Hansi Flick, the successful manager of Barcelona, has confirmed his commitment to the club, extending his contract until 2028. This significant decision comes on the heels of Barcelona clinching the league title, a testament to Flick’s impactful tenure.

Flick expressed his deep satisfaction with his role at the club, stating he feels he is “in the right place.” He is already setting his sights on achieving even greater success in the coming seasons.

The German coach’s contract extension was finalized after Barcelona secured the championship. This achievement was notably marked by a decisive 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid.

The renewed agreement with Flick is a direct reward for his two highly successful seasons in Catalonia. As the former Bayern Munich manager, Flick has steered the team through a strong campaign, culminating in domestic silverware and a much-needed restoration of stability to the club.

Reflecting on the new deal, Flick admitted that the situation unfolded rapidly. However, he conveyed his profound gratitude for the trust placed in him by the club’s management.

“Has this been announced? I’m sorry, but I’ve had a lot on my mind,” Flick candidly told reporters, acknowledging the whirlwind of events.

“I’m very grateful to the club for the opportunity to coach until 2028. The club has the right to terminate it, and so do I,” he elaborated, highlighting the mutual nature of the agreement.

“We’ll discuss that optional year later. In recent days, it’s become clear to me that I’m in the right place. Now it’s time to keep winning and try again to win the Champions League. I’m very grateful to the club for their confidence,” Flick added, emphasizing his ambition and appreciation.

Despite having already secured the league title with a substantial 14-point lead, Flick is resolute in his demand for continued effort from his squad. He is not prepared to allow his players to ease up in the final three matches of the season.

Ahead of their upcoming match against Alaves, the manager made it unequivocally clear that breaking existing records remains a paramount objective for the Blaugrana.

“The goal now is to reach 100 points, and to do that we have to win the three remaining matches and play well,” he stated, underscoring the team’s competitive spirit.

Looking back at a season characterized by both significant achievements and considerable challenges, Flick also took the opportunity to commend the exceptional leadership qualities displayed by his players.

He specifically highlighted the profound impact of Gavi and Pedri, recognizing their crucial role in elevating the team’s overall performance standards.

“We have different kinds of leaders. There’s Gavi, who, since returning to training, has raised the level of our sessions; he’s the heart of the team. There’s Pedri, a leader with the ball. Eric Garcia is too. And the captains, like Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, Raphinha,” Flick explained, providing a detailed overview of the team’s leadership structure.

“The first thing we have to do is make people happy. And I’m proud of that, and I’ve told the players that because it’s been a difficult season due to injuries,” Flick remarked, reflecting on the emotional aspect of their success. “There have been key players who haven’t been available at times, like Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha, Frenkie. And it’s incredible the season we’ve had and how we’ve improved in the last two months in attack and defense. We’ve conceded the fewest goals, and nobody expected that,” he concluded, expressing pride in the team’s resilience and defensive solidity.
