ICE Arrests 10,000 in Five Days Amid Birthright Citizenship Ruling

SouthernWorldwide.com – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified its enforcement operations, resulting in approximately 10,000 arrests over a five-day period. This surge in activity comes in the wake of a Supreme Court decision concerning birthright citizenship, which has been described as a setback for the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

The Supreme Court recently rejected President Donald Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship. The ruling reaffirms the long-standing policy that children born in the United States are automatically granted citizenship, regardless of their parents’ immigration status.

The court’s decision was grounded in the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution. It stated that “Children born in the United States to parents unlawfully or temporarily present are ‘subject to the jurisdiction’ of the United States and are citizens at birth under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Citizenship Clause.”

President Trump reacted to the ruling by calling for Congress to take action. He urged lawmakers to amend the Constitution to facilitate the abolition of birthright citizenship.

“No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary! Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “They will have my Complete and Total Support!”

Concurrently with ICE’s increased enforcement efforts, various groups have been organizing protests nationwide. These demonstrations advocate for improved living conditions for individuals detained in federal facilities and call for reforms to ICE’s operational procedures.

In late May, a protest at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey, escalated into a confrontation. The event saw clashes between protesters and ICE agents, supported by local law enforcement officers.

The network behind the Delaney Hall protests reportedly comprises around 100 organizations. Prominent among these are the ACLU, Indivisible, and the Democratic Socialists of America. Collectively, these organizations report annual revenues of approximately $825 million, a figure comparable to Newark’s annual budget.

Despite organized opposition, ICE operations have continued. Assistant Secretary for DHS, Lauren Bis, stated that the majority of arrests involve individuals who have previously been charged or convicted of a crime.

“Since Day One, DHS law enforcement has been delivering on President Trump’s promise to the American people to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens including murderers, rapists, pedophiles, gang members, and terrorists,” Bis explained.

“Nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S. More than 3 million illegal aliens are out of the country and counting. Our message is clear: if you come to our country illegally, we will find you, we will arrest you, and we will deport you,” she added.
