SouthernWorldwide.com – Although summer officially begins on June 21, Milwaukee Brewers’ standout pitcher Jacob Misiorowski has already brought the heat to the baseball diamond.

Misiorowski delivered a scorching performance during the Brewers’ 5-1 victory against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday at American Family Field. He recorded an astonishing 57 pitches that registered at least 100 mph. At just 24 years old, Misiorowski has now set a new Major League Baseball record for the most pitches exceeding 100 mph in a single game since pitch tracking data became available in 2008.

“That’s what I do,” Misiorowski stated confidently after the game. “I throw hard.”

Misiorowski’s dominance was evident throughout the game. He allowed only one run on two hits over seven innings, while impressively striking out 12 batters. Notably, nine of these strikeouts were achieved with fastballs clocked at over 100 mph.

Further detailing his exceptional velocity, Misiorowski threw 40 pitches at 101 mph out of his total 96 pitches. He reached 102 mph on 22 occasions and recorded nine pitches at a blistering 103 mph or higher. His peak velocity for the game was a remarkable 103.4 mph, a speed he hit three times.

The intensity was palpable from the very start of the game, with the first six pitches Misiorowski threw all exceeding 103 mph. However, he expressed no surprise at this remarkable display of power.

“I feel like that’s how it should be every day,” Misiorowski commented. “I feel like that’s where I’m at. I feel like that’s just my normal.”

The previous MLB record for most 100 mph pitches in a single game was held by Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene. He threw 47 such pitches against the Cardinals on September 17, 2022.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy was effusive in his praise for Misiorowski’s outstanding outing.

“Magnificent,” Murphy declared. “One of the best performances I’ve seen in a long time.”

For Misiorowski, this start perfectly encapsulates his incredible season so far. In 11 starts, he boasts an impressive 5-2 record with a mere 1.83 earned run average (ERA) over 64 innings. He has also demonstrated excellent control, striking out 100 hitters while issuing only 19 walks.

His performance in May has been particularly stellar. In five starts this month, Misiorowski has surrendered just one run and 11 hits, while accumulating 49 strikeouts against only six walks across 31 1/3 innings pitched. The single run scored by the Cardinals in the sixth inning of Monday’s game ended Misiorowski’s remarkable streak of 29 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

This impressive streak ranks as the third-longest shutout innings streak in Brewers franchise history. Teddy Higuera set the record with 32 straight scoreless innings in 1987, followed by Freddy Peralta’s 30-inning streak last year.

Furthermore, Misiorowski has not allowed an extra-base hit in his last six consecutive starts. The last extra-base hit he surrendered was a double to Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers on April 19.
