SouthernWorldwide.com – Jannik Sinner has secured a chance to defend his title.

Sinner, aged 24, triumphed over Novak Djokovic in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Friday at Centre Court. This victory propels him into the Wimbledon final, where he will compete for consecutive titles. His opponent in the final on Sunday will be Alexander Zverev.

This marks the second consecutive year that Sinner has eliminated Djokovic in the Wimbledon semifinals. In their career head-to-head, which now stands at 12 matches, Sinner has emerged victorious seven times against the 39-year-old Djokovic.

Neither player managed to break serve in the initial set until Jannik Sinner achieved a crucial break in the ninth game, taking a 5-4 lead. Both players had successfully held their serves up to that point.

Sinner then confidently held his serve in the subsequent game to clinch the first set with a score of 6-4.

The second set followed a similar pattern, with both players holding serve through the first six games. Sinner once again seized the initiative, breaking Djokovic’s serve to go up 4-3. He further extended his lead by holding his own serve, making it 5-3.

Djokovic managed to stave off losing the set on his serve, narrowing the gap to 5-4. To avoid going down two sets to love, he needed to break Sinner’s serve for the first time in the match. However, Sinner maintained his composure and won the game without dropping a point, establishing a significant 2-0 lead in sets.

In the third set, Sinner wasted no time in asserting his dominance, breaking Djokovic’s serve in the very first game after creating four break point opportunities. Both players then proceeded to hold their serves, with Sinner ultimately winning the set 6-4. Notably, Djokovic was unable to secure a single break of serve against Sinner throughout the entire match.

Despite the crowd’s vociferous chants of “Novak! Novak!” between points, attempting to rally the 24-time Grand Slam champion, their efforts proved to be in vain.

Sinner has now defeated Djokovic in six of their last seven encounters. Djokovic’s sole victory over the Italian in this recent stretch occurred in the semifinals of the 2026 Australian Open.

Last year, Sinner captured the Wimbledon title by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in a hard-fought four-set match. The upcoming final on Sunday will mark Sinner’s seventh appearance in a Grand Slam final of his career.

The Italian star is scheduled to face Alexander Zverev on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. Zverev will be aiming to secure his second consecutive major title, having previously won the French Open in June.
