SouthernWorldwide.com – The verbal sparring between Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith has intensified, with Brown launching a scathing critique of Smith’s media practices.

Even though Jaylen Brown’s season with the Boston Celtics has concluded, his public dispute with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith escalated significantly over the weekend.

Brown, during his livestream, once again targeted Smith after the sports commentator advised the NBA guard to “be quiet.” This came after Smith’s previous response to Brown’s accusations that NBA referees harbored an “agenda” against him, following the Philadelphia 76ers’ comeback from a 3-1 deficit to win their series against the Celtics.

Earlier this month, the five-time All-Star had publicly stated on X that he would “be quiet” once Smith retired.

“Did he just say I needed to be quiet? Be quiet for who?” Brown questioned on Sunday night. “Man, f— Stephen A. Stephen A, Stephen B, Stephen C. My offer still stands. You want me to be quiet and stop streaming, well, I want you to be quiet and get off these networks because you’re not using your platform to do real journalism. You’re using your platform to use clickbait.

“Tell this mother—-er to retire because he’s the face of clickbait media at the point and maybe with his retirement we can spark a movement to get the rest of these mother—-ers out of here — or to also have some type of … forget journalistic integrity, actual integrity in order to hold themselves accountable to the bulls— takes they put out.”

Brown proceeded to analyze a clip of Smith discussing Brown not having Jayson Tatum on his stream, suggesting this was the reason Smith is often labeled a “clown.”

It is widely acknowledged that the Celtics’ season exceeded many fans’ expectations. The team began the year without Jayson Tatum, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the previous year’s playoffs.

However, Brown shouldered a significant load, participating in 71 games and averaging an impressive 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. Brown contended that Smith failed to grasp how strong leadership and cohesive team chemistry propelled the Celtics to achieve greater success than anticipated.

The Celtics concluded their regular season with a formidable record of 56-26, securing the top spot in the Atlantic Division.

Previously, Smith had advised Brown to “be quiet” unless his intention was to pressure the Celtics into trading him.
