SouthernWorldwide.com – UFC veteran Jim Miller made a triumphant and emotional return to the Octagon on Saturday night, securing a victory by submission against Jared Gordon.

The win came after a challenging period for Miller, whose 14-year-old son, Wyatt, was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer, last year. Miller had stepped away from fighting for over a year to support his son through his battle with the disease.

Following his victory at UFC 328 in Newark, New Jersey, Miller shared the heartwarming news that his son has successfully recovered. “My son went through some really difficult times in the last couple of months,” Miller stated. “He ended up kicking the s— out of cancer, and he’s all good today.

We are cancer free. And one of the things I told him when he was dealing with it when he first got diagnosed is Millers have been called a lot of names over the years, but fragile has never been one of them.”

The lightweight bout was a significant moment for Miller, who fought in front of his home-state fans. Born in Sparta, New Jersey, he was just about 40 miles from the Prudential Center where UFC 328 took place.

The fight concluded swiftly in the first round when Miller executed a successful guillotine choke on Gordon. The submission occurred after Gordon attempted a takedown following a kick from Miller. Gordon’s head position allowed Miller to secure the chokehold and force the submission.

This victory adds to Jim Miller’s impressive record in the UFC. He now holds 28 wins within the organization, the most of any fighter in its history.

For Jared Gordon, this loss marks his second consecutive defeat. His previous back-to-back losses were in 2018, against Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight Night in February and Joaquim Silva at UFC on FOX in December.
