SouthernWorldwide.com – As the Los Angeles mayoral race intensifies heading into Election Day, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass has drawn a parallel between one of her challengers, Spencer Pratt, and former President Donald Trump.

Bass and her opponents are actively campaigning in the final weekend before the primary election, which is expected to lead to a runoff. The race has proven to be more competitive than initially anticipated.

The current mayor, Karen Bass, is seeking re-election and is facing competition from former reality television personality Spencer Pratt and city council member Nithya Raman. The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday.

Recent polls indicate a close contest, with no candidate projected to secure over 50% of the vote. The two candidates who receive the most votes will advance to a runoff election in November.

On Saturday, Mayor Bass, who has received endorsements from prominent Democratic figures like former Vice President Kamala Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom, made a stop at the Yosemite Recreation Center in Eagle Rock.

During her visit, Bass was seen serving tacos while wearing an apron that read “Common Sense and Carne Asada.” This action highlights her connection with the community and her campaign’s messaging.

In an Instagram livestream on Saturday, Bass also addressed Spencer Pratt’s candidacy. She described him as a “failed reality TV star who wants to be famous.”

Furthermore, Bass appeared to allude to former President Donald Trump when discussing the implications of placing a reality TV star in a position of power. She stated, “We know what it means if you put somebody who is a reality TV star in a seat of power.”

Meanwhile, Spencer Pratt spent a portion of Saturday criticizing Nithya Raman on the social media platform X. His criticisms included commentary on Raman’s recent campaign advertisements.

In a video shared on Instagram, Raman highlighted a recent poll and encouraged her supporters to cast their votes. She emphasized that despite significant spending against her campaign, she remains competitive.

“After millions of dollars of spending against us, we are still here and we are still competitive,” Raman stated, underscoring the resilience of her campaign.

Spencer Pratt, widely recognized for his role in the reality show “The Hills,” has garnered attention in the mayoral race by criticizing Mayor Bass. His criticism has focused on the city’s response to the January 2025 wildfires, which resulted in the destruction of thousands of homes, including his own in Pacific Palisades.

He has also been a vocal critic of Mayor Bass’s handling of issues such as homelessness, drug addiction, and crime in Los Angeles.

Pratt has reportedly gained traction in the race in recent weeks and has secured endorsements from other figures in the reality television world, as well as actors, musicians, and media personalities.

Despite this support, Pratt, who is a registered Republican, faces considerable hurdles in Los Angeles. The city has a history of Democratic candidates dominating local elections, making it a challenging environment for a Republican candidate.
