SouthernWorldwide.com – The NASCAR community is collectively mourning the loss of Kyle Busch, with two series where he achieved significant success, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series, both observing moments of silence in his honor.
Although Busch spent over two decades as a full-time competitor in NASCAR’s premier Cup Series, he also made occasional appearances in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. His impact in the Truck Series was particularly profound; he secured victory in 69 out of his 184 starts and even owned a team at one point.
Tragically, the final win of Busch’s illustrious career occurred just a week prior to his passing, in a Truck Series event at Dover. Busch passed away on Thursday, following a rapid decline from severe pneumonia that escalated into sepsis.
On Friday, the Craftsman Truck Series was scheduled to race in Charlotte as part of the Coca-Cola 600 weekend. This was an event Busch was slated to participate in.

Corey Day was set to pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, the very truck in which Busch achieved his last victory. The truck had secured the pole position after qualifying was canceled due to rain.
Prior to the scheduled start of the race on Friday evening, participants and spectators gathered for a solemn moment of silence to remember Busch.
Regrettably, the race could not commence and was postponed. It was initially rescheduled for Saturday morning, and subsequently for Saturday night.
The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, a series in which Busch had a long and successful history, also held a moment of remembrance before their scheduled race at Charlotte on Saturday. This event too was affected by weather, being suspended due to rain.
A palpable sense of sorrow is expected to permeate the atmosphere on Sunday as the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar, is set to begin at 6 p.m. ET.
