SouthernWorldwide.com – The National Basketball Association (NBA) has issued lifetime bans to two fans following separate incidents during Game 1 of the Knicks-Spurs matchup. The game, which saw the New York Knicks secure a 105-95 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at the Frost Bank Center on Wednesday night, was disrupted by fan interference.

One fan, attempting to get a selfie with Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, invaded the court midway through the fourth quarter. The NBA confirmed in a press release that this individual, along with a second fan involved in the incident, will be prohibited from entering any NBA arenas indefinitely.

“The individual who entered the court area during Game 1 of The Finals was arrested and will be banned for life from all NBA arenas,” an NBA spokesperson stated. “A second individual will also receive a lifetime ban for his role in the incident.”

The court intrusion occurred with just over six minutes remaining in the game. Spurs guard Dylan Harper’s pass was deflected by Mikal Bridges when the fan ran onto the court, heading directly towards Wembanyama while the play was still in progress. The young Spurs star admitted to being caught off guard by the situation.

“I’ve never been in that situation,” Wembanyama commented. “I didn’t know how to act.”

Security personnel swiftly intervened, apprehending the fan and escorting him off the playing surface.

Play was temporarily halted for one minute and 29 seconds before resuming with a jump ball. The fan was removed from the court area via a baseline tunnel.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson downplayed the disruption, stating, “I don’t think it was an event at all. I thought security got him out of there. I think everybody moved on to the next play.”

The NBA is presumably hoping for a clean conclusion to the remainder of the series, with Game 2 scheduled for Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
