During the interaction, a woman heckled him, prompting his strong verbal response. Crow-Armstrong admitted he was aware of the cameras present during the exchange.

“I saw the cameras in my face, it’s not like I didn’t,” he stated. “I’m definitely aware of the fact that it has blown up.”

Crow-Armstrong described himself as intense on the field but conceded that he “let it get away” from him in this instance.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell also commented on the situation, expressing hope that Crow-Armstrong has learned from the experience. Counsell acknowledged that Crow-Armstrong made a mistake with his word choice and is aware of it.

“It’s the reality of this job. Fan interactions happen. You want to try and keep them positive even when they’re not,” Counsell added.

According to ESPN, Major League Baseball was not investigating the incident, despite its widespread attention.

Crow-Armstrong is in his third year with the Cubs and is considered a vital player for the team’s future. Earlier in the year, he also represented the United States in the World Baseball Classic.

As a prominent figure for the franchise, Crow-Armstrong aims to move past this incident by focusing on positive interactions. He stated his intention to “kill someone with kindness instead of matching their level of intent.”

“I don’t want to let that deter from the competitiveness I feel out on the field. Channeling in a different way would probably be my next task,” he concluded.
