Planned Parenthood Offered Hormones, Lacked Answers for Detransitioner

SouthernWorldwide.com – An undercover investigation by the pro-life advocacy group Live Action, in collaboration with detransitioner Chloe Cole, has revealed that Planned Parenthood locations offered gender transition services, including hormone prescriptions, but lacked resources or answers for individuals seeking to detransition.

The investigation involved undercover calls made to Planned Parenthood facilities across various locations, including Idaho, Alaska, New York, and Washington, D.C. Cole posed as a patient who had previously undergone a gender transition and was now seeking assistance with detransition.

During one call, a Planned Parenthood employee explicitly stated, “We only have gender-affirming care services, like for hormones, but not to detransition.”

When questioned further about support for fertility concerns or other consequences stemming from prior transition-related treatments, the employee indicated that such services were not available. “As in right now, it’s a no, I don’t think we do that type of healthcare,” the employee responded.

These findings form the basis of a new campaign launched by Live Action. The organization is urging lawmakers to maintain restrictions on federal funding for Planned Parenthood, citing the group’s alleged expansion of transgender-related healthcare services in recent years.

For Chloe Cole, the issue is deeply personal. She shared her own experience, stating, “My name is Chloe Cole. When I was 12 years old, I began the process of trying to change my gender from female to male.”

Cole detailed the progression of her transition, including undergoing a double mastectomy at the age of 15. However, she realized the detrimental impact of these procedures on her body. “But I realized that what I was doing was actually harming my body. So at age 16, I began to detransition,” she explained.

Cole initiated this investigation with the express purpose of understanding the availability of resources for individuals who regret their gender transition. “In this investigation with Live Action, I wanted to see what Planned Parenthood would do when someone came back asking for help to detransition,” she stated.

The results of her inquiry left her with a grim assessment. “What I found was horrifying: Planned Parenthood was ready to help people start transitioning, but had no real answers, no meaningful support, and no services to help them reverse course,” Cole reported.

Throughout the undercover calls, Cole raised specific concerns related to detransition, including issues with fertility, the effects of cross-sex hormones, and the possibility of breast reconstruction. The investigation claims that Planned Parenthood employees either referred her to external providers, expressed unfamiliarity with detransition-related care, or stated that such services were not offered by the organization.

In one recorded exchange, Cole informed a Planned Parenthood employee, “I had surgery, I’ve been on the drugs, and I need help recovering the things I’ve lost,” while inquiring about available detransition resources.

The employee’s response was that while an appointment with a provider could be scheduled, “I don’t think we do that type of healthcare.”

At another point during the calls, a staff member indicated that Planned Parenthood facilities primarily serve patients who are “getting started on gender-affirming care.”

This new investigation by Live Action focuses specifically on the support systems in place for individuals seeking to discontinue transition treatments or detransition. This follows previous investigations by the group that alleged Planned Parenthood facilities were prescribing cross-sex hormones to minors with minimal oversight.

Lila Rose, the founder and president of Live Action, characterized the findings as evidence of a “one-sided system.”

“Live Action’s undercover investigation with detransitioner Chloe Cole exposed Planned Parenthood’s one-way body destruction pipeline,” Rose stated. “Planned Parenthood is willing to prescribe cross-sex hormones and push vulnerable people further into dangerous so-called ‘gender-affirming care,’ but when someone comes back seeking help to detransition, Planned Parenthood has no answers, no support and no services to help reverse the damage.”

While Planned Parenthood’s website outlines various gender-affirming care services, including hormone therapy, puberty blockers, and surgery referrals, it does not explicitly mention detransition-related services on its gender-affirming care page. The organization notes that not all its health centers offer the same range of services.

Live Action intends to use the findings of this investigation as part of a broader advocacy effort. The group is urging Congress and the Trump administration to continue restricting federal funding for Planned Parenthood once current limitations expire.

According to Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report, the organization receives substantial government funding through reimbursements and grants, which it uses to provide reproductive healthcare and other medical services across the nation.
