SouthernWorldwide.com – Samantha Busch, wife of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, has broken her silence two weeks after his sudden passing.

Kyle Busch, 41, died on May 21 following a severe illness that began with pneumonia and escalated to sepsis. The two-time NASCAR champion experienced a collapse during a simulator session prior to the Coca-Cola 600 and was immediately transported to the hospital, where he passed away the following day.

A private memorial service was held for Busch earlier this week.

Samantha Busch shared her first public comments since her husband’s death on Instagram on Friday, expressing her gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support in a heartfelt message.

“As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.

The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people.

There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone. From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well. Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him.

We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful.”

Busch was a highly accomplished driver, securing two Cup Series championships and was widely considered a future Hall of Famer. He had competed in the Cup Series since 2004, accumulating 762 career starts and 63 victories.

His championship wins came in 2015 and 2019. Across all three NASCAR national series, he achieved a remarkable 234 victories.

Busch held the all-time record for wins in both the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series with 102 victories and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with 69 wins.

His 234th and final NASCAR win occurred at Dover just a week before his passing. In that Truck Series race, he dominated by leading 147 laps to secure a commanding victory.

Reflecting on that win, Busch had remarked, “You never know when the last one is.”

Busch made his significant mark in NASCAR during his extensive tenure with Joe Gibbs Racing, the team for which he spent the majority of his career and clinched his two championships. He transitioned to Richard Childress Racing after the 2022 season and achieved three wins in his inaugural year with the team.

Busch’s most recent Cup Series win was in June 2023. While he faced challenges for a portion of the current season, he started on the pole for the Daytona 500 in February and had recently achieved a season-best finish of eighth place four weeks prior at Watkins Glen.

Kyle’s 11-year-old son, Brexton, recently returned to the racetrack for the first time since his father’s death.

Richard Childress Racing announced last month that Busch’s No. 8 car would be permanently retired unless Brexton expressed a desire to use it should he enter the series in the future.
