SouthernWorldwide.com – Jonathan Andic, the son of Mango clothing chain founder Isak Andic, has vehemently denied accusations of killing his father. The businessman, who was arrested in Spain as part of an investigation into his father’s death in 2024, has broken his silence on the matter.

In an open letter addressed to Mango staff on Tuesday, Jonathan Andic described the allegations as “serious, unjust and unfounded.” He announced his decision to step down as vice president of the fashion giant’s board to dedicate his full attention to his legal defense.

The 45-year-old stated that a public narrative has been constructed based on a biased and distorted perspective, taken out of context. He believes this has created a false perception of guilt that is entirely disconnected from the truth.

“I make this decision sadly, but convinced that it is what’s best for the company and for me,” Andic wrote. “I need to concentrate all my energy on demonstrating my innocence.” This marks his first public statement since the investigation began.

Isak Andic, the 71-year-old billionaire founder of Mango, tragically died after falling while hiking with his son in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona on December 14, 2024. Initially, authorities treated the incident as an accident.

However, prosecutors decided to reopen the investigation in October 2025, with their focus shifting towards Jonathan Andic. He was subsequently arrested a week prior to the publication of his statement and was later released on bail amounting to one million euros ($1.2 million).

It is noteworthy that Jonathan Andic was appointed as the executive vice president of Mango’s holding company in January 2025. This appointment occurred approximately six weeks after his father’s untimely death, according to a report by Reuters.
