The suspect, identified as Jaylan Amhad Davis, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, with authorities indicating the charges will be elevated to felony murder. The incident occurred Sunday night at Arcadia Lake, a popular recreational area in Edmond, a suburb of Oklahoma City.

According to Edmond Police Chief J.D. Younger, the shooting stemmed from an argument between two females that subsequently escalated into a conflict involving rival gang members. Over 80 rounds were fired during the chaotic event.

Police believe that at least one other suspect is still at large. Chief Younger emphasized the department’s commitment to seeking justice for all 23 victims, including the deceased, and also highlighted the importance of not demonizing or isolating any parties involved in the incident.

Reports of gunfire at Arcadia Lake began around 9 p.m. on Sunday. The lake is a well-known spot for boating, fishing, and swimming, located approximately 13 miles north of Oklahoma City.

Among the injured are six juveniles, with the youngest being 15 years old. The party had been advertised on social media platforms, attracting a large gathering primarily composed of young adults from the greater Oklahoma City area.

Authorities noted that the shooting commenced just as officers were en route to address a noise complaint regarding the party. The organizers had not secured the necessary permits for such a large event.
