SouthernWorldwide.com – In a move that has stirred considerable political commentary, former President Donald Trump has publicly called for all future presidential and vice-presidential candidates to undergo rigorous cognitive examinations.

Trump, who is approaching his 80th birthday, made these remarks in a recent Truth Social post. He aimed his criticism at his political opponents, referring to them with his self-coined term, “Dumocrats.”

He explicitly stated that candidates seeking the nation’s highest offices should be mandated to take “high difficulty Cognitive Tests.” Trump urged members of Congress and the Democratic party to support this initiative.

This call comes as Trump is set to become the second president to serve at the age of 80, following in the footsteps of President Joe Biden, who was the oldest U.S. president to serve. The age of leaders has become a recurring topic of discussion in recent political discourse.

Trump referenced the results of his recent physical examination, conducted at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. He described the results as “extremely good” and highlighted his performance on a cognitive test.

He proudly stated that he achieved a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the test, a result he characterized as indicative of “extreme intelligence.” Trump contrasted his performance with that of other U.S. presidents, noting that none, to his knowledge, have undertaken a similarly difficult and approved cognitive assessment.

“Are the Dumocrats really surprised?” he questioned in his post, implying that his cognitive abilities should not be a subject of doubt.

This is not the first time Trump has emphasized his cognitive test scores. He has frequently used them as a talking point at his campaign rallies, often in contrast to President Biden, whose age has also been a subject of public discussion.

The White House had previously released a memorandum detailing Trump’s annual medical examination from May 26. The report, signed by Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, the physician to the president, covered a comprehensive evaluation that included various diagnostic studies and laboratory tests over the preceding year.

The physician’s summary indicated that Trump “remains in excellent health.” The report specifically mentioned strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function. His cognitive and physical performance were both described as “excellent.”

According to the memo, Trump was deemed “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.” The physician noted that Trump’s demanding daily schedule, which includes numerous high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, contributes positively to his overall well-being.

The neurological examination detailed in the memo showed normal mental status, cranial nerves, motor strength, sensation, reflexes, gait, and balance. It was also confirmed that Trump completed the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA).

His score on the MoCA was indeed a perfect 30 out of 30. Trump further elaborated on this in his post, stating that this was his fourth such test, and all had resulted in perfect scores, accumulating 120 correct answers out of 120 questions asked.

He emphasized the rarity of achieving a perfect score, especially when accomplished four times consecutively. This assertion underscores his confidence in his cognitive faculties.

The medical report also addressed screenings for mental health conditions. Screenings for depression and anxiety were reported as normal. However, the report did note some slight lower leg swelling, which had improved since the previous year.

Additionally, there was mention of bruising on the backs of his hands. The physician attributed this to minor soft tissue irritation, likely resulting from “frequent handshaking.” This bruising was described as “common and benign.” The report also noted he was taking aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.

Trump’s laboratory results were generally within normal ranges. His total cholesterol was recorded at 143, with LDL cholesterol at 53, HDL cholesterol at 70, and triglycerides at 104. His fasting glucose was 83.2, and his hemoglobin A1c was 5.3. His PSA level was 1.0.

The memo also confirmed that his kidney, liver, thyroid, and cardiac-related markers were all within normal parameters. Trump’s current medications include rosuvastatin and ezetimibe for managing his cholesterol levels, as well as aspirin for cardiac prevention.

The disclosure of these health details and Trump’s subsequent call for cognitive testing for all candidates highlight the ongoing scrutiny of the health and fitness of political leaders, particularly as they age.
