SouthernWorldwide.com – Former President Donald Trump recently expressed strong admiration for New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, even questioning if the player was a “male model” due to his striking appearance.

Trump shared his thoughts during an interview on “My View with Lara Trump” on Saturday. The conversation touched upon the backlash Dart faced after introducing the former president at a recent event in New York.

“First of all, I wished I looked just like Jaxson,” Trump stated during the interview. He elaborated by saying, “I said, ‘Is he a male model?’ He’s a handsome guy, like a beautiful guy, conservative guy.”

Trump continued to praise Dart, noting his positive interaction. “He said, ‘I love you, sir.’ I didn’t know he was doing it. He’s potentially a great quarterback. He’s a young boy. He just really started, but when he’s in a game, he moves the team.”

The former president further emphasized Dart’s impact on the field. “I didn’t know him but I watched him a little bit but he really moves the team. Tremendous potential. If he stays healthy, he’s gonna be great,” Trump remarked.

Trump also drew a parallel between Dart’s popularity and his own political success, referencing his 2024 presidential election victory over Kamala Harris. He highlighted that he won the popular vote and garnered significant support from counties across the United States.

“So, when Jaxson gets harassed a little bit, he’s also loved more because we have more people than they do,” Trump asserted, linking the quarterback’s situation to his broader base of support.

Dart’s decision to introduce Trump at the event in Suffern had indeed drawn criticism, even from his teammate Abdul Carter. Carter expressed his perspective to reporters on Friday, stating, “Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things.”

Carter continued, explaining his stance. “Jaxson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise. He not only represents himself and what he does, but he represents all of us, and that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform.”

He further elaborated on his responsibility to voice his opposition. “But if he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe or what I stand on, to not only show my teammates that I’m against that, but to show the world.”

In response to the criticism, Dart explained that his upbringing influenced his decision to meet the president. “This was a unique opportunity, you know, being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States,” Dart said.

He elaborated on his personal values. “My thinking was pretty simple in the fact of, you know, I’ve always loved this country. I have extended family members who have fought wars. I have two uncles who have retired from the Air Force Academy and served themselves.”

Dart also mentioned his family’s history of public service. “And I even have a great grandfather who served as Secretary of Treasury at some point,” he added.

Concluding his explanation, Dart emphasized his respect for the office of the presidency. “So the president position has always been a position that I’ve well respected, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political party and, you know, my intentions were just that.”
