SouthernWorldwide.com – President Donald Trump is set to make a prominent appearance at MetLife Stadium for the upcoming World Cup Final next month.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed in a studio interview with “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday that he and President Trump will jointly present the FIFA World Cup trophy to the victorious team’s captain on the field.

“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino stated.

This marks a repeat of a ceremony from the previous year, where Trump and Infantino also presented the trophy at the same New Jersey stadium following the FIFA Club World Cup Final. In that event, Chelsea emerged victorious over Paris Saint-Germain with a 3-0 scoreline. This appearance occurred a year after an assassination attempt on President Trump in Pennsylvania.

During the FIFA Club World Cup Final, the President participated in the trophy presentation, distributing awards to both the players and the referees after Chelsea secured their win. Trump remained on stage during the team’s celebration, which led to some surprise and confusion among the players.

“I knew he was going to be here, but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused,” Chelsea’s Cole Palmer commented after the match, expressing his bewilderment at the situation.

The relationship between President Trump and FIFA executives has seen significant strengthening since he assumed office. Notably, he established the White House Task Force for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, an initiative that commenced in North America earlier this month. Andrew Giuliani was appointed as the executive director of this task force.

While President Trump has not yet attended a World Cup match, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was observed at the United States Men’s National Team’s opening game against Paraguay, which ended in a 4-1 victory for the USMNT on June 12.

Earlier in December, during the World Cup final draw held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., President Trump was honored with the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize.

In recent sports engagements, President Trump attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Additionally, the White House hosted UFC Freedom 250 just last week.
