US Strike Kills Two on Suspected Drug Boat in Caribbean

SouthernWorldwide.com – The U.S. military announced another strike on a vessel suspected of transporting drugs in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in the deaths of two individuals on Monday.

This operation is part of the Trump administration’s ongoing campaign against alleged drug-trafficking boats in Latin American waters, which commenced in early September. To date, these strikes have claimed the lives of at least 188 people, with other operations also occurring in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Despite the ongoing conflict with Iran, the frequency of these boat strikes has notably increased in recent weeks. This surge demonstrates the administration’s continued commitment to its aggressive strategy aimed at combating what it terms “narcoterrorism” in the Western Hemisphere. However, the military has not presented evidence to substantiate claims that the targeted vessels were indeed carrying drugs.

These attacks began amid a significant buildup of U.S. military presence in the region, the largest in generations. The escalation also preceded the January raid that led to the capture of then-Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Maduro was subsequently brought to New York to face drug trafficking charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty. In the most recent incident on Monday, U.S. Southern Command issued statements similar to previous ones, asserting that the strike targeted alleged drug traffickers operating along known smuggling routes.

U.S. Southern Command shared a video on social media depicting a boat moving across the water, which is then engulfed in a massive explosion and flames. The video captured the alleged drug boat just before it was struck by a U.S. military operation in the Caribbean Sea on May 4, 2026.

President Trump has characterized the U.S. as being in an “armed conflict” with cartels operating in Latin America. He has defended these strikes as a necessary measure to curb the influx of drugs into the United States and to combat the fatal drug overdoses affecting American citizens.

However, his administration has provided limited evidence to support its assertions of neutralizing “narcoterrorists.” Conversely, critics have raised concerns regarding the overall legality of these boat strikes.
