SouthernWorldwide.com – Vice President JD Vance has deflected inquiries regarding a potential 2028 Republican presidential ticket with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This comes after President Donald Trump recently suggested the two as a formidable political pairing.

Vance expressed his admiration for Rubio, stating, “I love Marco. I think he’s a great secretary of state. He’s become a very, very dear friend.” However, he emphasized their current focus, adding, “But I think both of us are very much focused on accomplishing the American people’s business right now.”

The speculation began earlier this week when Trump hinted at a future ticket involving Vance and Rubio, though he did not specify who would be the presidential candidate. Vance has previously dismissed media reports suggesting tension between him and Rubio, attributing them to fabricated narratives as the 2028 election cycle approaches.

Trump had remarked on Monday, “Who likes J.D. Vance? Who likes Marco Rubio? All right. Sounds like a good ticket.” He further described it as a “dream team.”

Vance indicated that discussions about future political aspirations are among his least favorite topics, especially when he is “having a good time and trying to do good work in the job that the American people already elected me to do.”

He elaborated on his perspective, saying, “If I was the American people, there are a few things that I would hate more than a person who’s barely been in one office for a year and a half, is angling for a job two and a half years down the road.” Vance was referring to himself in this statement.

During the press conference, a reporter pointed out that the media was not creating conflict between Vance and Rubio, as the president himself had proposed the potential ticket. Vance responded with a lighthearted remark, suggesting, “I just don’t think it sounds like the president of the United States to have a televised competition for who would succeed him as his apprentice.” He added, “I just think that’s not at all what you would expect the president to do.”

Vance further commented that it was “natural” for Trump to engage in such playful banter with him and Rubio, noting the president’s long-standing fascination with politics.
