SouthernWorldwide.com – Floyd “Money” Mayweather, a name synonymous with immense wealth, is now reportedly facing legal scrutiny that could cast a shadow over his celebrated financial legacy.

The undefeated boxing legend is allegedly entangled in a situation involving a bounced check for a high-end watch, which has led to serious felony charges.

Prosecutors in Clark County have filed two significant felony charges against the 49-year-old fighter. These charges include theft of property valued over $100,000 and passing a check with the intent to defraud.

The alleged incident occurred on New Year’s Eve in 2024. Authorities claim Mayweather was at a boutique in Las Vegas and expressed interest in a rare Audemars Piguet watch.

Mayweather is said to have paid for the luxury timepiece with a check for $200,000. However, the check was subsequently returned by Wells Fargo due to insufficient funds.

Sources indicate that the owners of the boutique reportedly attempted to resolve the matter privately for over a year, aiming to avoid public embarrassment.

They reportedly sent a certified demand letter to Mayweather. Despite these efforts, the boxer allegedly did not respond, leading to the current legal proceedings.

A criminal summons was issued, and Mayweather’s legal team made an appearance on his behalf in a Las Vegas court on Monday.

If convicted on both felony charges, Mayweather could face a maximum prison sentence of 24 years. This legal trouble appears to be part of a larger pattern of financial difficulties.

Mayweather is reportedly facing a substantial amount of debt. This includes a federal tax lien of $7 million from the IRS for unpaid back taxes.

In addition, a judge recently ordered him to pay $1 million in back child support to a former dancer. He is also involved in separate civil lawsuits concerning unpaid bills for private jet services and rent for a luxury apartment in Manhattan.

Despite these financial challenges, the veteran boxer has been lining up a series of upcoming exhibition bouts. There is also a highly anticipated rematch scheduled against Manny Pacquiao in September.

The situation suggests that while Mayweather may be ready for boxing opponents, he may be struggling to address his financial obligations.
